We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Some recent campus actions border on the surreal. In April, at Brandeis University, the Asian American student association sought to raise awareness of microaggressions against Asians through an installation on the steps of an academic hall. The installation gave examples of microaggressions such as “Aren’t you supposed to be good at math?” and “I’m colorblind! I don’t see race.” But a backlash arose among other Asian American students, who felt that the display itself was a microaggression. The association removed the installation, and its president wrote an e-mail to the entire student body apologizing to anyone who was “triggered or hurt by the content of the microaggressions.”
It has little to do with coddling. It's letting the lunatics run the asylum, by submitting to their bullying. Nobody believes all of this nonsense.
hilarious. I can imagine know what will happen when a second year law student/summer associate/SJW asks a partner not to say "violates the law".

I've read this article and the bottom line is that to change this course, we need to elect a conservative to the presidency.
It is being driven by the federal Department of Education which can only be corrected by a better executive direction and/or a Congress that overrules the regulations. The latter requires either veto-proof majorities in Congress or a willing president.
Society in the first world has been brainwashed over the decades to demand an inconvenienced life free from all strife, discomfort and stress.
I don't know what ticks me off more. The social engineers who are forcing us to live in a sanitarium run by crazy people or the lazy, apathetic, narcissistic whiny cry-babies who think they deserve life free from "stress".
Well, the backlash claiming the display itself was a microaggression microaggresses me. I'll probably have to take the rest of the day off, and maybe sleep in tomorrow. (And don't get on my case about verbing microaggression. If they can invent words, I can verb them.)
