Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

By the end of the Wilson administration, America had a belly full of Progressives. They had to reinvent themselves as "Liberals" and retire the label "Progressive". That's the good news, the bad news is a lot more people are reliant on the government today.

BTW, do the Dems even realize that from the 60s on, the population boom in the New South was composed of Northern rust bucket migrants. It is part of the reason that the Sunbelt shifted to the Red column. It made me wonder what portion of the people in S Carolina were born there. I have heard that people who move to the Carolinas (not specifically SC) say they live in neighborhoods composed of transplants from Connecticut, New Jersey and Long Island.
