We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Even more depressing is what the students major in. I looked at Yales undergrad distribution and expected to see a good number of Womens studies along with esoterica like Latin. What I saw was that most of the students were political science or economics majors. (Most of the rest were pre-meds and only a tiny handful were the far lefty stuff in the news). this combined with the knowledge that the entraining freshman class was 50% legacy and at least 25% pseudo diversity slams home that they take the role of preserving the erstwhile ruling class seriously. I would respect them more if they took their pretensions of being Oxbridge like more seriously outside of the social class aspects
