I don't disagree with the raw data. But here's the thing. In this country almost everyone gets tested and is in the statistics. We count all the failures, almost ran's and drug coma'ed along with the merit scholar finalists. They don't do that in Europe, Japan, China, India, etc... If you are below par in China you are out of school and on the farm by puberty. In Europe you will be in a trade, not a trade school, but out working as a mechanic or tractor driver etc. and will not attend their high school. So when these other countries show their Wunderkind and put their statistical data up against ours just remember for evey Chinese Genius there are 20 "dummy's" out digging ditches or planting rice who weren't counted. For every German Engineer designing better Mercedes there is one or two who dropped out and are working with dirty hands and were not counted. Having said that I still believe our government is failing our students and young people terribly. End the H1B program. Protect our borders. Deport illegal aliens instead of giving them our jobs. Stop incentivizing our colleges to recruit foriegn students and reject American students. Began a nationwide program of trade schools for high school aged students. Replace welfare with workfare. There is so much more...

In the U.S. constitutionally education is wholly a state power. But or three branches of the federal government abandon the constitution whenever it seems useful to do so. However it is worth noting that our own Dept. of Education really doesn't have anything to do with actual "education". It was formed as a favor to the education unions, it is mostly used to distribute federal funds to unions, special interests and of course to keep thousands of bureaucrats gainfully employeed. The dept of Education has never educated anyone just as our Dept of Energy has never found, created or provided any energy. Their main purpose seems to be to make billions disappear and harass innocent citizens.
