The H5N1 Bird Influenza is spreading during the bird migration, as predicted. None in the Western Hemisphere, yet. Thus far, this will be a problem for those handling birds, and bird farmers. Be careful with your pheasants this fall, Mr. Free Market.

There is no evidence of a mutation which could endanger human populations on a large scale. Kill your parakeet and parrot and make a nice little soup out of them - and hope for the best. There may have been some hysteria about the Bird Flu - but it remains a risk that hangs over all of us.
