We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If academicians had an ounce of sense, they'd study the crap out of these "treasures", using tons of photographs, hands-on viewing and whatever whiz bang techno review is possible. Keep the top ten examples in museums, then issue a certificate of authenticity fro all the rest for the purpose of selling them to the buying public.
A legit maket, complete with certifications would raise money for research and cut down on looting for sale into the black market, as well as allowing the academics to keep track of secondary examples if something new came up and they needed sold articles recalled for review.
A big "WIN" all around but then, too practical for the Academy!
