We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
They remain much more socialist than we are. They, and a few other European nations, seem to have found out what the limit is and are heading back. They aren't ever going to be Hong Kong.
For all our complaining about socialism, it pays to remember that all the major economies are mixed, and only the percentage and a few emphases are different. Nor is the same answer necessarily right for each nation. Homogeneous populations can sustain socialism more easily. We may also be slowly discovering how out-of-character socialism was for the Chinese.

"They remain much more socialist than we are."
not for long, the US is rapidly working to correct that.
