We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
"There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs."
Booker T. Washington, “My Larger Education, Being Chapters from My Experience“ (1911), Ch. V: The Intellectuals and the Boston Mob (pg. 118 )
Wonder who they were and where and how they operated. Only ones I recall, starting in the late '30s, were A. Philip Randolph and the Pullman Porters Union. Would like to see a recap of the race hustler business in 1911 or thereabouts. Downloaded the book and skimmed it and found no help there.

Given the onerous existence of Jim Crow, they had much more justification for doing so than our current crop of Al Sharptons and Melissa Perrys. Such as where Melissa Perry maintains it is racist to call Obamacare, Obamacare.
