We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
If you think about it for a while, you have to wonder whether this might require a $5 million government grant to understand the deeper processes at work here. h/t Carpe Diem
Because you brought up the subject of Microsoft and because I was thinking of the Doc and his passionate attachment to Microsoft, I thought I should post this website.
Go to each number and click on that line, this will open a chapter. Read to the bottom of each chapter and click on next to read the next chapter. I believe this summarizes not only the Microsoft mindset, but the Seattle mindset also--even the universities in the Seattle area. Steal, threaten, and harass are the key guidelines for any of the power players in that area. The millions and millions of dollars spent on engineering and computer science at the UW has brought about hardly anything earth shattering and certainly innovation on that campus is nothing more than the key word to the lady's room. Just take a look at how Boeing, Microsoft, UPS, Starbucks, Amazon, etc., etc. do business.
For the record, I presume she doesn't mean me when she says "Doc". I hate MSoft products, always have. As for browsers, I've been using FF for years, which is why I've written so many updates on it, like its continuing problems with Flash. My last post on IE made a mockery of it as the updates to v10 were few and far between.
