Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Political quote du Jour

Today, Congress exercises police powers never granted by the Constitution. Conservatives who favor federal “wars” on drugs, gambling and other behaviors should understand the damage they have done to the constitutional underpinnings of limited government.

Everyone has their biases and special interests. Some want to legalize drugs and believe they can convince you that the constitution requires it. I'm not in favor of legalizing drugs and I'm really not buying that the constitution doesn't allow the citizens to pass laws against them. But I'm willing to go along with this if we end all unconstitutional endeavors by the federal government. Things like the dept. of: agriculture, Commerce, education, energy, HHS, HUD, labor and transportation. Of course this would eliminate the unconstitutional welfare programs and federal subsidies etc. Then I would be willing to let the druggies legally fry their brains if that's what they want.
