We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Piers Morgan has armed security. And I read that Jim Carrey has an armed bodyguard whenever in public. Since I am cheap and not wealthy, I have to be my own bodyguard. If armed protection is OK for the President and Piers Morgan, it's OK for me.
“When you clamp down where basically everything is restricted, it feels like you’re infringing on second amendment rights,” Shari Reilly explained.
Shari nails it.
But what can we tell from whom they chose to interview. No CT bubbas out at the guns stores that day? Or is the news catching on, that a nice looking young mom is a good interview? Especially contrasted with the MAIG mayor in a slick suit spouting baseless soundbites.
Apparently Obamacare forms are so difficult to fill out appropriately that the bill has set aside money for thousands of "navigators" to be hired from the ranks of unions, healthcare operatives (Planned Parenthood?) and community organizers (remember ACORN?) to assist applicants. Who did the blinking cost analysis on this C#@P?
At the rate the cost of this bill is increasing, it would have been cheaper to simply provide an annual Medical Savings Account and catastrophic insurance policy for each of the "uninsured" the Dems were lamenting when they started this fiasco.
You are absolutely correct "it would have been cheaper to simply provide an annual Medical Savings Account and catastrophic insurance policy for each of the uninsured". But it was never about health care. It was always about government control and a platform to socialize the country. This is the Democrat party exposed. Not suprisingly it is indistinguishable from early communist and fascist revolutions in the early 20th century. Our problem is that the left effectively turns out 98% of their supporters to vote and the right makes almost no effort to turn out voters and thus perhaps 50% of those on the right actually vote. The politicians on the right, displaying their enormous intelligience, have decided that the secret to get elected is to "out-democrat" the democrats. So they have focused their effort on amnesty and gun control as a way to steal voters from the Democrats. In the process they are alienating their base almost guaranteeing the turnout in 2014 for the right will be even lower. Lindsey Graham and John McCain are the ringleaders in this treasonous choice but they do not stand alone. I feel like the Republicans have become lemmings rushing towards the cliff. It does indeed appear to me that the Republicans and thus the right are committing suicide and taking the constitution with it.
You are right: "power" IS the operative word. For BOTH parties. Graham and McCain (and others) don't care as they are so entrenched in their fiefdoms that they benefit no matter which party is in control nationally.
Back to the Tea Party movement, but someone has to redesign the image big time and concentrate the message. The people I meet are hardly defined in Axelrod's terms (guns, religion, mean-spirited selfishness). They were united by smaller (therefore, more responsive) government with lower taxes (local, state, federal, sales, etc.) Taxpayers have a hard time controlling those pesky little "consumer" taxes when attacked by 400 taxing bodies of Big Government.
