Since Diversity is more important than knowing calculus

Northwestern Creates Mandatory Diversity Program.

I find myself wondering how the college students of today can be so full of hate and intolerance that they require mandatory regrooving. Perhaps there is only so much sanctimonious bs one can absorb without vomiting or laughing.

This reminds me of a local town employee who got in a little trouble with his free speech at work and was sent to mandatory diversity training. He told me afterwards "I went to their classes, but it didn't take."

Here in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago one has to take an Anti-Racism class run by someone who earns a living teaching anti-racism classes to groups as far to the left as the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago if one wishes to hold an office in the Diocese. I do wonder if it is possible to flunk the class ....

"Just last year, the University created a new administration-level position of “Assistant Provost for Diversity and Inclusion.”

I wonder how much this person - and their staff - gets paid, and what that does to tuition costs. And what that, in turn, does when I have to pay increased taxes to cover student loans that don't get paid back. Non-instructional staff at colleges has increased at 2 to 3 times the rate of instructional staff and at many schools the former now exceeds the latter.

This is excibit A of the waste that is driving college costs so high. This kind of stuff has become a self parody. It cannot last.

This is the biggest crock of s**t next to the "live" sex-ed courses earlier last year. And this university doesn't pay any property taxes, so the rest of the state has to cover for it? Geez.

I know it will never happen but if scholarships and student loans only paid for core classes and students/parents had to pay cash up front for extraneous BS like diversity classes, college costs would plummet. People would refuse to pay for this stuff if slapped in the face how expensive it is right now.

Ironically none of these classes are ever diverse they are made up of the usual resentment driven groups who are always non-inclusive.

Ironically, the one diversity not permitted on most campuses is diversity of opinion.

I was banned from the mandatory annual consciousness raising seminars.

Nobody who enjoys them can go, seems to be the rule.

This will change when employers start hiring those who get the training, but forego the indoctrination, and thus don't have the degree.

Maggies has pointed out that in the 19th C it was common for college attendees to leave after a couple of years w/o a degree.

Employers (entrepreneurs, hiring managers, HR, etc) need to make this viable again.

'ABD' stands for 'All but dissertation', meaning an individual completed graduate coursework, but not the research and dissertation write up/defense. We need a new ABD: All but diversity.
