We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Ye parlor of Ye Olde New England Yankee Farmhouse on Sunday evening, with a fine granddaughter working hard on something academic in front of the fire.
Fanciest farm house I ever saw! Sweet girl, lovely tree. But nobody in my family ever "treated" the windows of their Yankee farms quite so elaborately! Either original lead painted wooden shutters or French Toile de Jouey (sic?) sewn by Grandma on her trusty Singer....Is the lady of the house a real Yankee or a friendly foreigner?
Nothing but criticism.
And you, Corporal Vamp, out to be out there recruiting instead of worrying about the size of my fire. We do have central heat, of sorts.
Ought- not out, Barrister. I've been honorably discharged from the USMC and currently employed as a proofreader. "build a fire, throw on logs and listen to it hiss, and let it burn, burn, burn, burn on a night like this"
Old? Old! You call that old !! I 'll give you an old farm house....
