Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The reason to kill the traditional family

I am afraid that this post at American Thinker is correct.


The main enemies of state power are family and religion.


Why do Lefties trust big government over free commerce, free markets, and achievement? I believe it is because they want to be in charge of things, in charge of me. I resent that impulse.

Barrister ... I believe that you're right about the Lefties; They want to be in charge of things, and they are woefully ill-equipped to be so. So their solution is to fatally damage the family, and to destroy America's established religions. Speaking from long-term personal observation, I have never before seen quite such dedicated resentment and hatred aimed at all Western religions. The only religions which are being coddled are the Islamic and related faiths.

Well, yes. They have the advanced academic degrees and from better schools, too. That must mean they are smarter than we are. And therefore they clearly are better suited to determine how society should work and what is most moral. Naturally, they should be in charge. But those kinds of qualifications don't necessarily put you in charge in a religious organization or a family, so the solution is to remove the power and influence those organizations have - after all, they've been shown time and time again to have been the source of evil - and concentrate power and dependency in the government, where they can rule.

Mind you, I've got a B.S. from MIT and an M.S. from a medical school, so I figure I'm a $#!tload smarter than some dufus who got a B.A. in Journalism or Poly Sci. But it's been scientifically proven that Conservatives are not as smart as Liberals - there's been studies! It's science!

Which is why, I'm sure you know, the 2d Amendment is so important.
Please, obtain something more than a shotgun or a pocket pistol and become proficient with it.
At best, if you're lucky, you'll find yourself a little behind the learning curve.

I thought Mr. Obama was being touted as a wonderful orator, a moving speaker. Then yesterday he was quoted on Drudge as condemning one of Romney's speeches as "a cow pie of distortion", revealing himself as a vulgarian, not an orator. Tut-tut. That's the kind of insult that slimes the speaker rather than his target.

Oratory skills are one thing, but it takes more than the spoken word to be effective. Obama (and many others) selectively forget this, and think words and a pretty smile are enough.

The Great Captains all knew this, and mixed oratory, management, objective thinking, and leadership skills to accomplish their tasks, not just personality and wishful thinking.

Seems that's SOP for most politicians - hope for the best, and smile alot...

Uhhh.... this is not such a hidden agenda.

Or at least - not to those of us who woke up sooner than later to the dark side of the "liberal" agenda promoted aggressively since the 60s.

This is standard operating procedure - start with pity mongering and bland appeals to "fairness" and "niceness".

Manipulate people's apolitical decency as a wedge to take over education and regulation.

Then - and only then, when you are safely ensconced in power - do you reveal the iron hand in the velvet glove.

It's been used by feminists and other PC do-gooders since the 60s, and even earlier.

The only unique feature here is that the dysfunctional mindset of most homosexuals (as described by Freud and others) dovetails tightly with the tropes of PC victimhood.

If you believe in the Christian religion then all of this should not come as a surprise.
Satan is trying to disrupt things so that when God comes back to reclaim what is His; people won't be saved.
What better way to accomplish that but by undermining the things that He established.
Progressives, liberals, et al, are just the worldly conduits for the devils work. They are pawns in the spiritual war that goes on beyond our "sight". The left is being used and their hearts are so hardened they don't even know it.
