We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

They Are Not The 99%
By way of Instapundit comes this from Professor Jacobsen in response the rather vague Occupy Wall Street protests. The silent majority. The ones who pay the bills, and the taxes, and the tuitions, and the pensions, and the benefits, for...

Obama and the Dem party rulers don't care anymore if the country knows that they are organizing the street protests. The street protesters don't care anymore whether their positions make any sense or not. The message, top to bottom, is "we shall rule, or no one shall".
We are seeing the leading edge of the "Rule or Ruin" strategy and political philosophy.
They intend to moot the Constitution.
They understand the 1930s of Europe and expect to avoid, this time, whatever mistakes the totalitarians made.
Very true picture. My comment on Business Insider got trashed because I pointed out the MacBook Pro in one of their pictures. There are some very defensive entitled people protesting out there. Two generations of Johnny getting a participation trophy and the country is toast...
I'm taking away all my sons' participation trophies.
Actually, I only remember them receiving one. For baseball. I didn't understand why they got anything, but it made the kids happy, then they had cake and ice cream and soda. And ran around for hours.
They'd forgotten about the trophy by the next day. So, why did they get it?
The Pinewood Derby trophies? Even now, they boys say they are really mine. Truth is, I made them work on each one, but I did the work with the saws. The dangerous stuff. Didn't want to see little fingers littering the floor.
Well, look at it this way - it's kind of convenient isn't it? All the focus is on the "Wall Street Protests" instead of Solyndra, Reid's financial interest in that Nevada geo-thermal project, Pelosi's brother-in-law, yada, yada, yada.
By the way, I was listening to CNBC today about the supposed "protests" - turns out that this is strictly an evening thing - day time you'd never know they were there.
I happened to walk by the "protest" in Los Angeles before I knew about the "Occupy" movement. I laughed out loud at the collection of silly, silly people. These are the same sorts that go to Burning Man, but instead of stupid art, they are celebrating stupid politics. As I passed them holding their signs (which I could not tell what they were protesting), I said chuckling "You guys are ridiculous. Get a job, losers." I just couldn't help myself.
I love listening to the interviews with them, the word "corporate" spitting out of their mouth once a sentence.

I would presume that a high proportion of the protesters want to work for a non-profit organization or a NGO- whose funding is dependent on profits from large and small businesses.
A turtle got mugged by a gang of snails, i heard. When the cops asked him for their descriptions, he answered "Well, I didn't get that good a look, it all happened so fast."
