We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Broccoli?

Last I heard, there is still a debate about whether Broccoli is good for you, or whether it is a cancer risk.

I like broccoli. But I would refuse to buy it if forced to do so.

Oh, and I like broccoli - nobody else in my family does though. I'm not at all sure that they would eat it even is mandated via the Commerce Clause.

gov wants to force everyone to get a "DNA passport" based on which the health department can then "advice" you (iow order you) what to eat, what and how much to exercise, etc. etc. based on your 'personal healthy living profile'.

Of course insurance companies are all in favour of it, as it would also tell them what risk there is of things like heart disease, cancers, etc. so they can raise premiums for "risk groups" that are at the moment impossible to identify.

Spinning inactivity as activity is rich enough, but what about "bears on"?

It says "commerce" - period. It does not say "anything that might bear upon commerce through inactivity or in some second or third hand manner". Can't give away these points and try to argue the Constitution on the their terms.

By this "bear upon" standard, most federal departments could have jurisdiction over just about anything. Where we work, shop, live etc bears upon highway use, so it's all under the command and control of the DOT, right? Or does the DOE have that? Or is it the Ministry of Everything?

More importantly, why can't the US government combine gender equality and compulsory commerce?

Can the government require supermodels to spend two years at the Bunny Ranch offering themselves at reasonable rates? For the health of the average male with at least some budgetable cash. A beautiful body, like intellectual or business skills is an undeserved good. It should be shared, not hoarded miserly.

I'm one of the lucky super-tasters who can taste the toxins in broccoli. Means I avoid getting poisoned, where you regular tasters down poison with every bite of the noxious weed. The government ever mandated broccoli ingestion they'd find the courts clogged with us super-tasters.

Here's some gender equality: You can be sued if you do not date both sexes equally. Therefore you must keep records of each date you accept and/or reject, a summary of any sexual activity with the date, and so on. Naturally there records are subject to subpoena.
