We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
In the interview, Rauf distinguishes between "moderates" in Christianity and Islam on the one hand, and "extremists" in Christianity and Islam, on the other.
There are already some 80 mosques in NYC. According to Mr. Rauf. "moderate" Christians support building another mosque in NYC. There are no non-Muslim religious buildings in Saudi Arabia. Does Rauf mean that "moderates" in Islam would support building a church or synagogue in Saudi Arabia?
You can not test Islam for empathy, tolerance or respect. Those words are non existent in their language and mental makeup. Its just like trying to equate them to free choice. It will never happen, Islam and freedom are not compatible.
