Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Definition of a "real job"

It is one you cannot do drunk, and other fun topics.


My job, like journalism and electricianism and professorism, is famous for being done by daytime drunks, so I guess it's not a real job. It is, in a sense, parasitic on the producers, makers, and builders - the wealth-creators. I do try to help people with their problems, but my main contribution to the important things is my investing (which has not worked out too well for me during the past decade).


Whenever I am invested in a growing biz, the Dems try to tear it down. What's up with that?

The fact that Eric Holder and the Obamas are lawyers is enough to drive anyone to drink.

Ahhh lawyers.... would you let your sister marry one? (I did in fact. Not that I was asked. My youngest sister married one some, ummm, 25 years ago).

One of my best friends is one (Can I admit that?).

One of those famous quotes I cannot attribute but surely heard somewhere is: "Everyone hates lawyers.... except their own."

Arrogance I think. All for me and whatever we decide for thee. There are some more equal than others and you are not one of them. As a self employed small business owner, I just hope to survive through the next election cycle and hopefully get a more business & growth oriented cadre in congress, as it is, Doc Mercury's boat on the bay is looking mighty good at the moment. Pack up thy pad and motor on!
That's hard to do with my brickhouse in the 'burbs.

What is "electricianism" ? Electrician's are real worker's who must be sober to survive. I don't get it.
