While I've made it clear what I think of the ever-increasing amount of political posts here, by the same token I admit that these are interesting times. If I don't read something bad about Al Gore every week, I just don't feel complete.

My only quibble is that Sundays are treated like every other day. I always expect more 'reflective' articles, silly stuff, nature stuff -- pretty much anything but the usual (mostly political) fare -- and am usually disappointed. You, BD, will occasionally post an article on religion, but the others sure haven't gotten the message. Sunday is supposed to be a "get away from the rat race, recharge your batteries" day, but one doesn't get that here.

My only quibble with the readers is that it would be nice to see a few more comments, even if it's only "Thanks for the nice read". As I mentioned to you a while back, Barrie's really been on a tear lately and has posted some really excellent stuff, but I think he's averaging about .5 comments per post. That's not right. It's the only feedback the bloggers have, and thought-provoking posts such as his deserve recognition.

As referred to my posts, most of which deserve to be burned at the stake. :)

Plus there's that business about you being a boat captain. And a fisherman. I mean, if we're looking for reasons, let's take the whole package into consideration.

Boatcaptaining fishermanned lysdexia notwithstanding, that's a very good point. But, again, people are busy, and if you're got three or four posts out there and people are calling you a moron or misunderstanding something you said in the post, you'll just have to answer them -- and there goes an (accumulated) hour of your day.

From what I see, BD and Barrie do the same thing the pros do; glance over the comments a while later, leave a short note if need be, then bug out. Junky's cleverer than that. If you disagree with something he said in his morning links, rather than coming back at you in the comments, he'll post another article supporting his claim the next morning. That's what I'd do.

As far as Dr. B goes, as far as I know she hasn't answered a comment in ages, but I usually don't pay any attention to the psychobabble posts. Three days alone in the desert with nothing but food and a sleeping bag will cure 90% of all psychological problems. It's all perspective and priorities.

Bruce and I answer all comments, but for entirely different reasons. He's a tough ol' jarhead, and jarheads don't take 'no' for an answer, and certainly don't quail in the face of adversity.

Me, as the only right-wing blogger with the courage to post a Lady Gaga song, obviously have to protect my sterling reputation against the countless hordes of polka music enthusiasts who seek to discredit me. It's a war out there, friend.

You're only allowed to post on boats and fishing here, right? Good call on BD's part. But how about if you did a post on maritime songs? Clever, huh? Best of both worlds?

I'll handle the inevitable legal battle. Between "sandy beach" and "Beach Boys", I think you've got a strong case that this falls within the "maritime only" restrictions on your guest blogger's license. The tie will be irrefutable in a court of law, and I'm guessing BD's legal council is telling him so at this very moment. I think he'll cave without much of a fight.

Tom - Okay, I see your devious plan. In other words, as long as you can actually hear the ocean's roar in your mind when you speak the group's name, it counts? Excellent reasoning, my friend. With me covering the law and you tackling the angles, I don't see any way BD can stop us.

As to the project, were you thinking of assembling any of them yourself, or just doing the YouTube thing? If you want to get your hands dirty, I'm the guy to see.

Gringo - As a small aside, you might not have caught my comment in the 'Bullshit' post the other day, but sorry for the hassles. At first I thought it was the video, but now I'm blaming the server. It was even stuttering on BD's work computer, and they're hooked up to a pro outfit. The videos are rendered at 2,000 kbps so -- in theory -- should stream fine with a standard 3-meg broadband connection, but there are a lot of factors at play. BTW, can I email you? I've got the address. Got something private to show ya.
