Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Our culture in graphspeak


One very clever idea for a site is GraphJam, which puts our crazy American culture in graph format.

There's also a very funny area on the site called "Lol Celebs", where readers can put captions on pics of celebrities:




There's another celeb example below the fold as well as a few originals I whipped up just for the occasion.  Go to the site, slap it in your bookmarks, then save it for a rainy day when you're looking for something to do.  I went through every single graph and celeb page and had a great time.  Some of the stuff is exceptionally clever.





Now that's clever.  And funny.  And possibly true.


Below are three originals I just whipped up.  I didn't actually put them on GraphJam, I just used the on-site graph editor then dumped the screen-grabs into Photoshop.


Only longtime Instapundit fans will 'get' the first two.  Just kidding, Glenn!  The third one is something longtime Maggie's fans will relate to.

Rick - Glad you liked. I adore Glenn and just wait for that one day when he says "Just read the interesting parts". I know it's going to happen. I can just feel it.

Your Chances I'll Catch My Typos graph should say one nanosecond after I hit send, not save. Especially when I send it to my boss or a client. And the actual speed that I catch it is inversely proportional to their ability to overlook minor errors in others.

RDG - You're right, there should be two of them. We'll give the nanosecond to bloggers and "picosecond" to emailers.

On the other hand, I think we just answered a question that's been nagging me. My email program, a very slick multiple identities program with the goofy name of "The Bat!", has a 'delay' next to the 'Send' button. It's one of those small sidebars next to the big button that opens up to offer "10 minutes", "20 minutes", etc.

I've been wondering just why the hell anyone would want to delay their emails.

I think we just figured it out. :)
