We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I am very glad somebody finally caught up with this bag of wind.
While it came from Linda MacMahon's organization, this gives Rob Simmons, a great person who used his Congressional office to really help the folks of his district, a very good campaign talking point. What else has Bluementhal lied about? Hopefully we'll find out.
If the CT Republicans can get their act together and actually nominate a strong AG candidate, they will win the seat. Susan Bysiewicz, the presumed Democratic nominee, is a lightweight politician at best, a very poor public speaker, has the personality of a pet rock and the last time I saw her speak in public (about five or so years ago when the Teacher's Pension Bonding was bouncing around the legislature) her teeth were green - and I can prove it because I have the pictures. :>)
I have to say TB that, while I remember Ms. Dean's name from 2002, I honestly don't know that much about her. In fact I can't remember a single salient factoid about that race and I'm fairly well up on state politics. Thanks for the tip though - I'm always willing to throw a few dollars to a worthy candidate.
John Kerry on military deferements: ''The vice president even called me unfit for office last night. I guess I'll leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation than two tours of combat duty,"
Oh John? Yoo Hoo - Senator Kerry - where for art thou?
Apparently, Blumenthal "misspoke". Uh huh.
At the risk of being called out for flip flopping by Bruce, this really annoys me. Isn't it enough to have been a Marine? Even if it was a largely ceremonial one? Just to become a Marine commands respect - that's not good enough?
One of Blumenthal's opponents, Merrick Alpert, served as a Marine during Bosnia, even went to Bosnia but did not serve in a combat role. And he's never claimed to have. Doesn't that make him a better candidate than Blumenthal?
I honestly hope Rob Simmons gets the nomination for the Republicans - despite my preference for Linda MacMahon.
Depressing is what is is. And unfortunately, in this most blue of states and much like Massachuetts who elected a Senator who committed vehicular homicide, it is preordained.
