Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Jay Cost on how the people will speak truth to power in November. A quote:



The entire political class needs to understand that the coming events transcend ideology and partisanship. The electoral wave of 2010 will have been preceded by the waves of 2006 and 2008. That will make three electoral waves in a row, affecting both parties and conservative and liberal politicians alike. The American people are sending the establishment a message: we're angry at the way you are running our government; fix it or you'll be next to go.

Seems half the people are angry because they want more goodies and half are angry because they are tired of providing the goodies.

....and never the twain shall meet.

This is a train wreck coming and there seems to me to be no political "solution". The wreck has to come then we pick up the pieces and rebuild from the rubble.

This is a story about a John Fund (and others) prediction of how the Locusts will try something in January just before the new Congress is gaveled to order. chock full of links and stry bits of valuable info. for example, who knew that professors Cloward and Piven had actually written the Motor Votor act of 1993?
