Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Rahm Emanuel terms budget doubters and dissenters "f-ing retarded." That would include me, and I'm sure he is correct. Respectful debate on the merits is great, isn't it?


Speaking of f-ing retarded, Punxatawny Phil is. 6 more weeks of winter? Well, duh. Tell me something I don't know, genius.

Well, he's no gentleman. More interesting: calling opponents retarded isn't exactly PC. Reminds me of our Brooding Overlord's tasteless Special Olympics gaffe. But perhaps I am oversensitive to their hypocrisy(with a Special Ed kid).

Listen, pal, Phil is a trained meteo-climatologist, how much have YOU studied the science?? And you're not aware that in shadowless years the onset of meteorological spring can sometimes be advanced? Not astronomical spring, of course, that's not Phil's field of expertise. Go chase an ambulance or make a divorcing couple cry or whatever it is you barristers do.

I happen to like Mr. Emanuel's candor. No BS and beating around the bush, he tells you right where you stand. We need more such honesty in politics.

Grey Fox ... You say "let's get ourselves a retarded president next, okay?" We've got one now who has never run an office, never run a company, never met a payroll, never run a state. And has written two autobiographies before he hits 50. On top of that, he lets a guy who has no sense of propriety and uses obscene language run our country.

How retarded is that? Or is he just an empty suit?
