Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Steyn on Brown and the O: Funny

At the OC Register. One quote:



At one point late in the 2008 campaign, when someone suggested that if Gov. Palin was "unqualified" then surely he was, too, Obama pointed to as evidence to the contrary his ability to run such an effective campaign. In other words, running for president was his main qualification for being president.


That was the story of his life: Wow! Look at this guy! Wouldn't it be great to have him ...as community organizer, as state representative, as state senator, as United States senator. He was wafted ever upwards, staying just long enough in each "job" to get another notch on the escutcheon, but never long enough to leave any trace.

D@%n Mine (the truck, not the dog) only has 191,216 on the odo but I surely would sell it to the "O" for something less than 2001 List......

Obama has another career path as a magician based on experience: all he has to do is whisper the magic words "hocus POTUS" and an entire economy disappears.

As an Illinois resident, I can attest to the fact that he slipped through Illinois politics without being noticed. This isn't just my impression, this also comes from someone who served with him in the state senate. The party basically annointed him for the US Senate, making sure no one of any substance challenged him. Once you win the democrat primary in Illinois, the office is yours. Chicago alone stuffs enough ballots to make sure of that. If he had accomplished anything at all as a legislator he would be the first to remind us but all he seems to have to fall back on is his days as a community organizer. Now even people he worked with in the Chicago housing projects, people who still support him, have basically blown his cover there and admitted that he also failed to do anything there with any lasting positive results.
