We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I was a supporter of the UN most of my adult life. I still support the general concept: a worldwide alliance that makes war difficult and offers a place to cooperate on genuinely shared goals.
But this is several bridges too far, as is the International Criminal Court and some others. I do not share the Copenhagen vision and I think most Americans scorn the Copenhagen vision. I would prefer we withdraw from the UN rather than comply with the terms of this treaty.
The Blasphemy Treaty ain't so good neither. I might consider it if I could say to the Muslims, "You first!"
