Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The problem

Tiger quotes Brooks on the Dem overreach on spending. It's freaking people out, and it is why the O is sinking fast in approval. People voted for Hope. That's pretty vague, and easily undone.

Not sustainable, dudes. We the people can only work so hard and, at some point, we will not want to bother. The only reason we work is for our families - and sometimes for the fun of it too.

I would cut certain programs in the national defense budget and put those monies toward other programs such as missile defense, body armor, unmanned vehicles, and F-22's. I would cut back other less useful expenses to fund these. I would cut welfare programs to basically nothing. I would leave WIC but you could only have it for 5 years in a row max with diminishing payouts each year. Social security would be changed to only be tapped from the age of 75 on and Medicare would be eliminated. All of this spending must be cut down. No more deficits!

Depressing. Frustrating. Maddening. Stuck out here on the left coast, all I hear is the government just isn't doing enough. Clearly, we can't continue to spend like this...but there just doesn't seem to be enough people making enough noise.
