We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It seems to me like Alabama,(that's what my 89 year old friend calls him) is trying to build some realationship stuff with the rest of world that may have been lost in the last 8 years.
Is that a good idea???? Seems like it to me,but what the hell do I know!
Obama made a point of promising better relations with Turkey...I happened to been a staff member who worked on the EUCOM-Turkey military to military plans for the invasion of Iraq...What most do not know is that the Turks kept driving up the pricetag for allowing our forces to transit and stage in Turkey. When the pricetag hit around 40 billlion, W and Rumsfeld told them to pack sand...It was a bold move to use airlift for the Northern entry point into Iraq. It worked however as our Turkish friends could only lament the outcome and their lost 40 billion...Isnt it great that our new President goes to this foreign country to apologize for policies of which he is completly ignorant. The Turks know they have a live one and will treat him like royalty as they look forward to our $$$ finally coming their way.
Question for the webmaster(s) (actually 2 questions):
1. How does one take part in adding to the website, as I do a bit of writing, and I also wonder what it takes to add articles I think would be of interest?
2. To what extent is the concept of Europhilia playing a role in the ultimate degradation of the dollar which is taking place? The current strength of the dollar is a false flight to "safety" as investors view the US as a safe haven. However, due to massive stimulative effects of the borrowing and printing that is going on, the dollar is bound to collapse as other nations are not taking similar action.
I view this as an attempt by Obama and his minions to make the US more Eurocentric - an attempt to further push us down the path of Socialism.
It is odd that few people question the concept of depreciation of the dollar as a policy. Europeans, with their monarchical history, are used to government interaction in their daily lives. As a result, the mild forms of socialism they engage seem harmless to them, but quite harmful to us. Mainly because US citizens are the offspring of people who fled these monarchies to ESCAPE the long arm of government.
Yet we allow men like Obama and his financiers like Soros (who, by the way, basically issued a death sentence on the dollar today) to push us down this Eurocentric path.
The fact Europeans are comfortable with government interaction in their lives does not make me more comfortable. Their history is rife with error and mismanagement. And while the US has its own horrors in the past, we confront them a lot more easily due to our openness and relatively hands off governing style.
Do not think that dollar depreciation and political intrusion are separate issues. They are very tightly bound. If you disagree, review the history of any nation which has engaged in this kind of economic behavior in the past. Most notably Weimar Germany, but with several other nations such as 1993 Yugoslavia (ultimately corresponding with the war there) and current day Zimbabwe.
To think we are "better prepared to deal" with this is foolish and shortsighted.
