We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Now yet another Dem tax cheat

The proposed performance Czar. These Dems have no clue how much time I spend to pay my taxes properly. No wonder they don't mind raising taxes - they don't pay them.


This is becoming a joke. Maybe paying honest taxes is for chumps, as Leona Helmsley used to say.

I look forward to the upcoming news stories about how complicated the tax code is, how so many otherwise innocent people make "honest" mistakes, and what mean meanies the IRS is. Another thing only Obama can fix.

Taxes, confused statements over Gitmo, abundant sophistry littering the 0val Office like convention confetti....seems 0bama is not the color purple but closer to Hendrix's Purple Haze.

Just checked Drudge and apparently Daschle has withdrawn from the offered spot. Goodness, the Big O is having trouble getting folks to man up and take his appointments. Entertaining, isn't it?

It would seem that the Democrats should address something important and specific -- the fact that the tax code is so complex that not even they, who created it, can figure it out, much less obey it. Or is it that they don't feel they should have to obey it? This is getting more toxic by the day...

Just a manifestation of the philosophy of negotiation.

ie. nothing is wrong unless you fail to negotiate your way out of unpleasant consequences.

The traditional view is that wrong exists independently.

Our political classes and media almost totally take the modern view. That means you may ignore the any acts of your friends and allies. And you are free to overstate the transgressions of opponents.

In fact you may simply lie because a lie is not wrong unless you fail to negotiate your way out of any unpleasant consequences.

Perhaps the traditional view has been abandoned to a greater degree than we realize. The political and media castes are constantly visible so we can compare their acts with their words.
