Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The case for doing nothing

I am snowed-in today. Going nowhere past the end of my driveway with my snowplow. My road hasn't seen a plow yet this morning, and it's coming down hard and fast and blowy. Beautiful. I will light a fire, feed the birds, do some plowing, sip some sherry, catch up on some paperwork, and do some billable work too. Maybe find a new topic for a future post, if something piques my curiosity. Maybe bundle up and boot up and take a hike in the woods.

I agree. But since when is politics rational? It's sales and marketing.

Thank goodness, Maggie's is back. I have been locked out of your site for 2 months and I really missed it (page would not link and then could not be closed; resulted in shutting down computer - aarrghh!) Looking forward to catching up on some reading now.

The snow is lovely, Barrister, as well as being somewhat of a pest. But your day's schedule sounds wonderful.

Mine is also better than it was. I finally got my new computer up and running yesterday, after more than a month without a desk-top [Dell may want new business, but they're dilatory about sending the product to their users]. Using, as well as I could, my husband's lap-top was an exercise in frustration. I really really don't like Vista as an operating system, his Fujitsu keyboard is frustrating for a touch typist like myself and the sudden leaps to the bottom of the screen from the copy one is laboring over are disconcerting to say the least. So the return to Wiindows XP is a vast relief.

Anyway, happy snow day to you and all the others becalmed by 'global warming.' I hope Al Gore falls down on his fat prat.

Politics isn't sales and marketing. Almost all sales folks I've known (a lot) have been honest and hard working. Politics is a confidence game...
