Habu ... you pointed out something in the above post which I have been concerned about for quite awhile, and hesitated mentioning since it might seem more racist than I am or want to be. But I do feel that as long as we had a homogeneous Judeo-Christian majority population, most of whom were white, we could assimilate other immigrant populations successfully into the larger mass of our general population, which provided a stable base..

But in the past 40 to 50 years, we have acquired, through our oblivious generosity, more and more immigrants from societies hostile to our ethics and culture. The don't want to assimilate, to form an allegiance with us and our Judeo-Christian ethic, to become part of the American people. They emigrate here with the express plan of changing us to match them. They want us to succumb to sharia law, as they are trying to force Great Britain to do. They want Roman Catholic schools to install foot-washing sinks in their bathrooms so that they, the non-Catholics, can wash their feet before they pray to Allah. They want to be cashiers in Wal-Marts and Targets but they refuse, as checkout-clerks, to check out the bacon and pork products the customers want to purchase. They feel free to carry out honor killings of their relatives and are indignant if they are arrested for it.

We have assimilated other people from cultures which are very different from ours, but they had the innate courtesy and understanding of other human beings not to try force their beliefs on us. These new immigrants, mostly from the Mid East, but some from other areas of the world who share these same absolutist religious beliefs, feel we should adjust to them, not they to us.

This is scary ... and I am indeed deeply worried.
