We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The MSM has done more investigations into Joe the Plumber in 24 hours than they’ve done on Barack Obama in two years.
A Maggie's Farm commenter last night. Related: Anchoress discusses Going after Joe Plumber. The political message is that if you stand up, they will destroy you. It's funny though, because the issue wasn't Joe: the issue was Obama's arrogant mini-lecture to Joe.
Agree, BD. But when you say 'chance', you hit the nail on the head. I think 'Joe' will have an impact for some, but how cool for that 'chance' to happen as it did. Joe will be on Huckabee's show tonight, and that will be revealing; as will the other shows that have him scheduled. Obama's "spread the wealth around" remark will get so much air play that it will be the sticking point for the rest of his campaign. As well, I think it will reveal just how vicious the media is as they have literally attacked this man.
After watching presidential elections since 1952, participated in the campaigns of B Goldwater onward one refrain I have always heard from Republicans is how "in the tank " papers are for the Democrats. And I fully agree. HOWEVER.
Here's my question. In all that time, and especially now when the NYT and others are losing advertising and readership, and thus are vulnerable to a takeover, why oh why hasn't some Rep bought up several of these papers, or gone after them with enought lawsuits (the Dem way) to ruin them?
But we don't. If a rich Rep put together a plan, raise capital in a private offering , bought the paper and turned it into an honest enterprise then we wouldn't lose election , and this time maybe out traditional way of life....
I've never understood that.
Politics whether we like it or not has turned into a blood sport and the Dems are full equipped, ripping Republican flesh, while Republicans are still skipping rope on the playground.
I want this in the public domain. I have mentioned it before; the realization of its nightmare draws closer.
The Democrats are on the way to owning all three branches of government. President, Congress, and soon the Supreme Court. And there is the rub. With the most definite possibility the Democrats will gain a supermajority in the Senate they will immediately pack the Supreme Court, the Appellate Courts and all the Attorneys Generals with young socialists/communist.
Nineteen judges, two additional Chief Judges, all Marxists or Marxist leaning. They will take cases from the lower courts, the Solicitor General will, like the shadow plays of the East , argue the cases for the US. Their target will be the US Constitution. Within two years it will unrecognizable from anything we have had in the past, and there is NO way short of revolution from stopping them. Any Democrat not going along will be “handled” by some tragic circumstance. The remainder will fall in line.
It will mean that no subsequent election in this country for perhaps three generations will truly matter for even the weakest Democratic Party can get a case in front of a Marxist court and the outcome will be totally predictable.
We are less than three weeks away from having that nightmare become a reality, and then each American must decide whether it is better to die on your feet or beg on you knees for the Rights you already have. No regime will allow any opposition and since the Supreme Court will have ruled that freedom of speech is not acceptable then the population’s recourse to freedom comes by only one method. The price we paid in the Revolutionary War.
Argue it all you care but that is what is at stake. I simply want it to be stated by me that I will not beg on my knees for the Bill of Rights, they are already MINE. I will not beg for the Constitution that has produced more freedom for mankind than any document in history.
Many of you will not have the will to stand against tyranny, not everyone has the makeup for it. I understand. Good luck to you.
We could be reaching some kind of Armageddon with the leftists who have infiltrated all of our institutions, the so-called "long march through our institutions", as I believe Collier & Horowitz put it in their seminal work "Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About The 60's". Rick Perlstein predicted this in his penetrating bios of Goldwater and Nixon, we're just now reaping the mutant seeds scattered by this rabble from the '60's. Habu sounds like it's the barricades for him- or is it a carefully strategized counter-attack?
The WSJ has a piece even scarier than yours. Published today. It makes your blood run cold. What flips me out is ACORN is close to the root of this, and I'm finding myself thinking about the timing of the market 'crash' and ACORN's 'creation' of the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae crisis. My mind spins to think the libs are willing to chance a global meltdown to get into power. The dems are in ACORN's pocket and none fatter than Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Murtha,Kerry, Obama. Those people wanted to give ACORN 20% of the first bailout package!
The FBI knows it, the DOJ knows it, and voters are finding out. The media is scared to touch it. It is so huge that it's hard to wrap your mind around it. Someone big is working overtime to keep a lid on it. As you say - we can take only so much.
