We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Ted Kennedy committing treason? I'm shocked! Just another accomplishment he can put on his resume. Now treason really sucks the BIG ONE. You listening, Patrina? Capite, capite, capite.
It is also telling that on this blog there is but ONE comment on Ted Kennedy's treachery . A treachery more vile than Benedict Arnold's.
That the man has cancer and is about to die is a grace. This country would have never held a hearing or a trail, they would have never convicted him even if he admitted it in open court. But this is not an isolated event in the lives of the entire Kennedy clan, it is simply another event.
When you tally the harm that family has done to this country I don't believe you could find a family that has done greater harm. They could have been paragons of moral suasion but instead were deceitful liars, scofflaws, and traitors.
It always bothered me that Dan Quale did not have the presents of mind to slam Lloyd Bentsen in his famous "...and you're no John Kennedy" by immediately saying;
"You're correct Senator; I only sleep with my own wife and I would never leave men to be killed at the Bay of Pigs after backing out of my promise to support them, oh and I don't take massive dosages of drugs to function because that's not a good thing when your finger is on the bomb"
Had he responded in that manner it would have forced a changed in history because the gatekeepers protecting JFK all knew that was true and would have been forced to say so.
Now the gatekeepers job is almost done while Teddy still breathes, but that will not stop them from spiking stories such as the treason he committed in the future. To the left treason is a virtue.
I have perhaps hit this too hard in some of my writing, my CIA experiences, for it can easily be misinterpreted to be self aggrandizing puffery, but I can say without fear of God or any man that what the public knows about what goes on in the international arena would not register on the most sensitive scales. It is beyond James Bond. It is murder, intimidation, manipulation, treason, and all the other darker aspects that fill the real world.
I do not say that in the least critical way for at the time Teddy was doing his treachery the KGB had the CIA outnumbered worldwide 10 to 1, and that is fact, not hyperbole. That also does not include the Stasi of East Germany and their master Markus Wolfe, or any of the other Soviet intelligence outfits. Almost every mission I was tasked with doing potentially involved my torture and death.
It's a very hardball world out there and that was one reason I slammed the Barristers candy cane commentary and his claim about "we ain't got no problems"
It has been years since I have done any work for the Company but I imagine it isn't any easier and while the general population doesn't have a "need to know" I can tell you in my best Jack Nicholson rage that We couldn't handle the truth
So do not begin to tell me of any lack of humanity I am not showing Kennedy. He belongs in hell.
In the case of the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal of Canada vs Mark Steyn and the truth a summation of which is included in fine detail in this thread I would say less about it but more about what it portends for the United States in the coming years. In order to understand you're going to have to read the piece first.
Proceeding with my offering I say that it is already the fully expressed desire of the Democratic Party to breathe life once again into The Fairness Doctrine which appeared for a time in our laws. "The Fairness Doctrine was a United States FCC regulation requiring broadcast licensees to present controversial issues of public importance in a manner deemed by the FCC to be honest, equitable, and balanced. The doctrine has since been withdrawn by the FCC, and certain aspects of the doctrine have been questioned by courts" (Wiki)
There is little doubt in my mind that a government fully controlled by the Democrats will require Rush Limbaugh to relinquish half his airtime to say, Rev. G.D. Wright or Louis Farrakhan.....in "fairness" Rushes program, Rushes money, but government edict trumping free speech. The Left tried Air America and it went bankrupt, but free markets mean nothing to Marxists and they will reinstate the doctrine.
It won't be long after that we'll see Hannity and Colmes infiltrated by an Islamic point of view.."in fairness" And it will go on and on until ,as explained in the article, less and less real debate occurs because too many demands for "fairness" will trump the truth.
I encourage you to read the article. It's coming soon to your local jurisdiction.

The section on Mr. Free Market almost had me doubled over in hysterical laughter. If you Google Menwith Hill , Harrogate,GB you'll see what I mean.
Menwith Hill in Great Britain, Bad Abling in Germany, Pine Gap in Australian , and a dozen other sites world wide comprise Eschelon (Google it too).
The world is already covered and has been for well over 25 years. These sites sweep the ether and take in every electronic signal out there. Supercomputers are programed to key on words, phrases, names etc for sorting. Regardless of the sorting programs all of the data is captured.
Want to listen to a conversation taking place inside a car on the interstate? No problem, our satellites are so sensitive they could do it with ease. We're way past 1984 and all it takes for more information is to ratchet up the computers.
You haven't lived until you've entered a room with 100+ people wearing headphones listening to the worlds leaders.
So why haven't we caught Bin Laden? He's gone retro, very retro using human couriers to transmit his messages to drop points far from his location.
Hitler caught us by surprise in the Battle of the Bugle by using couriers. He didn''t know we'd had his code for the entire war but he had a dream and decided to use the old way.
Folks, your freedom is in your gun case and in your guts to use that gun when a government usurps your freedoms. Don't look to the government to protect your rights. That is as ephemeral as dust in the wind.
I missed Dr. Sanity's announcement that she intends a hiatus of indefinite length. I wish her well.
I have since learning of it, subscribed to Aristotle's dictum that;
The end of labor is to gain leisure.
She says other projects call and that burnout is roaming her mind. I think we can all understand that.
My hope for us all is that we prosper and find the leisure that gives life it's full meaning.
Good luck Doc.
Conservatism ain't dead
Well, it's easy to say something like that when you don't define it. It's a bit like saying "that tire ain't flat" even though it's rapidly deflating.
In my world if conservatism was alive even when it had full control of the Federal guvment and 30+ states the sections of death rows in prisons would be occupied by cobwebs, not convicted and sentenced to die prisoners who are still alive after 10-20-30 years. Just to give one example.
We aren't even going to see liberal conservatism after November if the MSM phalanx surrounding Hussein Obama remains vigilant to it's monadic guardianship.
"Want to listen to a conversation taking place inside a car on the interstate? No problem, our satellites are so sensitive they could do it with ease. We're way past 1984 and all it takes for more information is to ratchet up the computers."
" Folks, your freedom is in your gun case and in your guts to use that gun when a government usurps your freedoms. Don't look to the government to protect your rights. "
I wonder if those sensitive satellites picked up the second quoted remark of yours? You might end up in Room 101, you know.
Your constant repetitions of gloom and doom create apathy. It's not that many doubt your sincerity but that your solution is so ludicrous the tune-out happens almost simultaneously. Even Winston, surrounded by constant dire news, grew helpless and apathetic. He got the jackboot. Probably better than what we average citizens would get if we started picking off people with our high powered rifles.
