Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Wednesday, November 28. 2007Why Chavez is a Leftist Hero"Liberal Fascism"? Quoted from a Leftist French magazine in a piece at American Future:
Ah, government trying to run businesses! How quaintly 19th Century! How idealistic! How caring! It's "for the people"! Kinda like Hillary Clinton on the US oil companies: "I am going to take those profits..." Indeed, there is no greed in the business world that can compare with government greed for money and power. Chavez' "progress, " however, includes no food on the supermarket shelves. While I do not have the same trust in Venezuela's voting as Jimmy Carter does, it remains a fact that dictatorship by popular vote, and tyranny by popular vote, has a long history. However, this "liberation of the masses," as Gateway noted yesterday, is requiring lethal force and, remarkably, students and professors are in opposition (as they likely would not be in the US):
More at Fausta - Countdown to Tyranny Where are Sean Penn and the rest of the Chavez-lovers today? Have no fear: they will re-emerge when this "vote" is over because, with Fidel on the permanent sick list, the ignorant thug Chavez is now the world's leading proponent of the beautiful utopia of totalitarian, police state socialism (unless you include the equally-charming Kim Jong-Il, who unaccountably receives few accolades and little moral support from the Western Left). and especially the king of moonbats: Jimmy Carter. Where is he ? He is out doing a promo tour of his bio documentary. Pathetic!
Carter is responsible for Chavez--directly, via using the prestige of the USA to certify two disputed elections. Do you think the self-righteous, hateful, destructive little twit feels a little badly about what he has done? Nah--not a bit--you can bet your life on it.
The worst thing about Ignacio Ramonet is that he, of all people is in a position to actually review the dismal economic data on Venezuela, visit the country, interview the students who are protesting see for himself what is going on.
Instead he prefers to look at it through rose-colored Marxist glasses. No bet, buddy.
When President Carter was made aware it was himveryself's writings what impeded peace in the middle east, he said what? Chavez is a man of the people, helping to fight the running dog imperialist norteamericanos.
Once the Democrats sell him a Polaris submarine so he won't fell threatened and all will be well. Say, anybody know if the Chinese are adding extra led to our kids Christmas toys? How many flavors do they come in now? As soon as he started to control the media you new that was the kickoff to filling up the deathpits
Why would a progressive like me hate Chavez? Why.. because he goes Kent State all over college students. Yet for some reason academic Chavez fans are just peachy keen with that! Show me a Chavez supporter and I will show you people of any political stripe wanting keys to the jail so he can take a whack at someone who disagrees with them.
All signs show that Chavez is not simply a leftist, or simply a communist, but a Leninist. The goal is to grab and hold power, and once the party and the state are one, kill the "class" enemies.
The motto of Chavez? One person, one vote...once. After the pebliscite, there will be no further need to trouble the masses with elections...after all, they operate under the illusions of a "false conscience". but badly typed.. got my consistancy of persons wrong. That's ok since small-p people too often get rolled in the name of the big P people.
Seriously though, there is a strong progressive block among the "Eustonians" (loudly and uncompromisingly anti-totalitarian left wingers) including Daniel Duquenal whose's on the front line of the Hugo Ego-ocracy (which hopefully is showing signs of crumbling - but then he holds most of the cards of the state already). He's a must read.. http://daniel-venezuela.blogspot.com/ Gotta love that ''false consciousness'' concept. talk about useful!
We have seen this movie before. Madonna was in it and there was lots of singing.
Though Madonna was better looking that Hugo. after all, they operate under the illusions of a "false conscience".
Materialists way of saying,l "Devil is leading them about by their nose." Given Chavez's calling President Bush "the devil" at the United Nations thats probably how he'd put it. |
I’d say this is good news except that I have zero confidence that the referendum will result in anything other than what Chavez wants (i.e. dictatorial control): Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has lost his lead eight days before a referendum on...
