Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

re Female Molotov Cocktail Lawyer Sentenced To Only 15 Months in Jail
U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan praised Rahman for her commitment to fighting social injustices: “You’re a remarkable person who did a terrible thing on one night.” wtf? "Remarkable person"? As it turns out, Miguel Almaguer was right.
QUOTE: NBC now reports that police body cam footage has been made available to some media outlets and the footage clearly shows Paul Pelosi opening the door for police in seemingly perfect health. This contradicts the DOJ report on the attack and suggests a potential cover-up. NBC is forced to retract their earlier assertions that the Paul Pelosi open door event was unfounded. Why? Because they have to. Eventually the police body cam footage will make it out into the public sphere for everyone to see, and NBC is front-running their own false reports. However, they do suggest that "it doesn't really matter" who opened the door to the Pelosi home, and that Paul Pelosi's actions don't support the "conspiracy theories" surrounding the attack. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/nbc-body-cam-footage-shows-paul-pelosi-opened-door-police-alleged-attack "A sex war is coming"?! It's been going on for decades now. A biological male just won the "Miss America" contest, FFS.
Feminists declared war on women and they've won. QUOTE: All New York Schools Must Ditch Their Native American Mascots by the End of the Academic Year . . . The villains in this drama are the radical anti-traditionalists who never met a tradition they didn’t try to destroy. That turns tradition on its head. For instance, Oriskany Central School has been called the "Home of the Redskins" since the 1960s, but the Oneida have been there for centuries. QUOTE: The idea that these mascots give offense is ludicrous. That's obviously not the case, otherwise, Indians wouldn't oppose the use of such mascots. QUOTE: Meanwhile, those communities who have taken pride in their Native American mascots and don’t see the need to change them are either going to have to obey the state department of education or go to court. Actually, per the New York Department of Education, and consistent with the position of the National Congress of American Indians, schools can enter into discussions with recognized tribes locally for the use of mascots and slogans. (All New York Schools Must Ditch Their Native American Mascots by the End of the Academic Year) Luckly the NCAI hasn't bullied their way onto the Resevations to explain why they have to buckle under to rich white liberals. They still have pride in themselves and show it in their school mascots. (As do the real Native Americans I know.)
And still Notre Dame is allowed to continue its harmful and racist stereotyping of the Irish and The Ohio State Buckeyes are allowed to continue its harmful and bigoted portrayal of the mentally ill with their mascot of a nut. For shame!
I can't help wondering just how much money went into that very large, obviously luxurious Toronto District School Board building that might better have been spent on the students they care so much about.
The incongruity, (Yes, I looked it up because irony has been over used the Democrats don't have the capacity for self examination.) Of a black democrat calling out a conservative as a lackey never ceases to amaze me. Can you say "Get back on the Plantation for masa catches you!"
Hayden Goseek: Luckly the NCAI hasn't bullied their way onto the Resevations to explain why they have to buckle under to rich white liberals.
They don't. Per the New York Department of Education, and consistent with the position of the National Congress of American Indians, schools can enter into discussions with recognized tribes locally for the use of mascots and slogans. By the way, National Congress of American Indians currently represents every federally recognized Indian tribe, including the Oneida. feeblemind: "Remarkable person"?
Turns out that good people sometimes do bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things. Her sentence was reduced largely due to the so-called "trial penalty." She pleaded guilty and expressed remorse. Another factor was that no one was in the police car she firebombed. Does this mean the native Americans will give up cars, homes, rifles, canned food, clothes & TV? I am so 'over' watching "native Americans" in Alaska droning on endlessly about how their generations of being the original people and how that gives them hunting skills while they drive their snowmobiles (bought with your tax money) use rifles while wearing winter clothing made by high tech expensive clothing companies. This is all so fake and so racist on the part of the activists.
Not to mention University of Oregon exploiting ducks and Oregon State exploiting beavers. OK, I'll give Oregon State a pass on that one because who among us hasn't exploited a beaver?
JustMe: Does this mean the native Americans will give up cars, homes, rifles, canned food, clothes & TV?
Huh? Quite the non sequitur. But, sure. Defend the use of the r-word because it's tradition. JustMe: "native Americans" in Alaska
Is there a reason you used scare-quotes for native Americans in Alaska? Do you doubt their ancestry for some reason? "Turns out that good people sometimes do bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things."
Little Miss Wannabe Susan Rosenberg tossing Molotov cocktails in downtown New York is not an example of either. You just can't see past your ideology to understand the danger of legitimizing violence as political speech but not taking it ALL equally seriously. Or worse, like her, you think violence as political speech is just fine, as long as you agree with the politics. Your insouciance to and dismissal of this sort of thing is dangerous in the extreme. SK: ou just can't see past your ideology to understand the danger of legitimizing violence as political speech but not taking it ALL equally seriously.
Who's legitimizing violence? Rahman did a bad thing. She pleaded guilty to a felony and she was sent to prison—as she should have been. The first question concerned the severity of the sentence. In American jurisprudence, going to trial results in much harsher penalties. Pleading guilty and expressing remorse results in more leniency. You may disagree with the policy, you could argue that the justice system is woefully underfunded requiring prosecutors to cut deals whenever possible, but that isn't unique to Rahman's case. The second question concerned whether she was "remarkable". She worked with the poor and dispossessed and many people showed up in court to say so. That justifies the statement that "good people sometimes do bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things." Regardless, she committed the crime, and she had to do the time. Beijing Biden's WH intervened on behalf of comrade Molotov.
President Klain (BlackRock) ordered it. The brownshirts of Antifa are in reserve for the big Emmanuel Trumpstein 24-7 hours of hate for 2023-2024. If it isn't all burned down better by then. Enjoy electricity, plumbing, while you still can. WOW! I was shocked to see the governor of NY and the mayor of NY City coming out loud and clear talking about hate crimes. I'm thinking, finally after seeing thousands of hate crimes by blacks on whites, Asians, jews, etc. Black men punching old women and men on the street, shooting people, stabbing people in the subway, beatings swearing, racists slogans. Finally the governor and mayor are going to do something... And then I discover what should have been obvious; it was a white guy they were after. Yeah he is stupid and probably mentally ill yada, yada, yada. But interestingly he hasn't shot anyone or thrown them into the tracks in front of a subway train, or smashed jewelry store displays and stolen a $million in jewels. Nope! But he is "white"! Democracy itself is at risk. The world is going to end.
Meanwhile black men are still killing people for being the wrong color and walking in the wrong neighborhood. Move along! Nothing to see here. "Is there a reason you used scare-quotes for native Americans"
Scare quotes!!! LOL. WTF are "scare quotes"? But there is a reason. ALL "native Americans" are merely immigrants to this country just as you and I are. WE are every bit as "native Americans" as the Indians are. AND to make it all worse they are also ALL colonists!!! Because there were three large pre-Columbian immigrations from Asia and numerous smaller ones from Asia and the South Pacific. In all cases subsequent immigrants colonized, enslaved and killed the previous immigrants. (Wait a minute! Maybe you are right and we do need to be scared of "native Americans" they were damn colonizers and slavers!) The bottom line is there are not "native Americans" and likely no "native Europeans" as it is probable that all human life is native to Africa. One can argue this because the history isn't complete and there are a few inconsistent "facts" (scare quotes LOL!) that can be interpreted differently. But one thing that cannot be argued is that all humans in the Americas are immigrants or children of immigrants. "BOO!" LOL I did NOT "Defend the use of the r-word because it's tradition."
It is always wrong to be racist. I was merely pointing out that they were being racists. You ARE correct that it is their tradition to be racist but that doesn't make it right. IMHO all references to race should be banned. It is racist to notice race and most certainly racist to exploit your race. JustMe: WTF are "scare quotes"?
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/scare%20quotes JustMe: But there is a reason. ALL "native Americans" are merely immigrants to this country just as you and I are. It's a common English language idiom to refer to aboriginal people. The distinction from "native-born" can be determined from context. JustMe: In all cases subsequent immigrants colonized, enslaved and killed the previous immigrants. If they are aboriginal, that means there was no one there to displace. JustMe: I did NOT "Defend the use of the r-word because it's tradition."
The article defends the use of "Home of the Redskins" by a New York State school on the basis of misguided tradition. You then argued that if Indians object to this, they must give up their cars. JustMe: IMHO all references to race should be banned. So, you want Indian tribes to disappear? The Federal Government and State government of New York (and others) want to end the so-called damaging and hurtful use of Indian themes for sports teams, often in cases where the tribes don't care.
Tell me: How many treaties signed by Indian tribes and these government have been violated over the years, by those governments? Perhaps we should simplify: how many have been honored? Have all of those infringements and grievances been re-dressed and corrected, please list them. Having lived next to a reservation, I can affirm the understated answer, 'not hardly'. American military: Tomahawk cruise missiles; Blackhawk, Lakota, Kiowa and Apache helicopters; But yes please instruct us on the proper etiquette. Blow it out your hypocrical ass, Quibble-DickZ.
SK is correct and y'all are wrong. Big surprise, huh? Aggie: The Federal Government and State government of New York (and others) want to end the so-called damaging and hurtful use of Indian themes for sports teams, often in cases where the tribes don't care.
Obviously, some do care. The National Congress of American Indians, which represents every federally recognized Indian tribe, cares. And the schools can certainly contract with individual tribes. But that would probably mean abandoning many of the stereotypes that have pervaded mascots over the years. The "sex war" is just a continuation of the old Gramsci/Marcuse ideology of moving from total "class warfare" to a "race and sex warfare" as class distinctions weren't that important in the US at that time.
The AWFL's have simply added a bit of "class warfare back into the victimhood scam. It tells you all you need to know about the war on capitalism and the middle class. The BBB/NWO need to demolish the middle class in order to establish the global oligarchs. The clown posse of AWFL's simply wants to be included in the BBB/NWO. It is a better description to refer to them as the casino tribes of America rather than the Nat. Congress of Indian tribes. Members of the tribes are like any other group with some supporting the names and some against the names. Unfortunately, like the NAACP, they are highly politicized. Look at their outside support groups... they are the same people that would support Antifa or BLM. They are little more than a political endorsement group.
If you can explain why "Home of the Redskins" is so offensive that it cannot even be said THEN explain why CRT can be taught.
"So, you want Indian tribes to disappear?" I don't care if they are or are not just as I don't care that Italians have their Italian organizations and the Irish have their Irish organizations. What I don't want is for it to be legislated or recognized by the federal government whose number 1 job is to treat us equally. Reservations was a mistake that should be corrected for the same reason the Republicans correct segregation. Convert all tribal lands to private and allow the Indians to live a normal life. THEN if they choose to be a tribe or to practice tribal way that is their business and not mine nor yours nor the governments. "It's a common English language idiom to refer to aboriginal people."
So NOW you like tradition that is racist??? "If they are aboriginal, that means there was no one there to displace." EXACTLY!! Now you are catching on. The Apache were descended from immigrants who came to America long after the first aboriginals did and they "displaced" (damn scare quotes, hope it doesn't trigger you) aboriginals in Alaska. Then sometime later these same people moved further South to an area that encompassed Canada and the U.S. and settled there again displacing (that means killing, enslaving and colonizing) the tribes who lived there. Then again in the late 15th century and early 16th century the Apaches moved further South (just wanted to be snow birds) and again displaced tribes in the Southwest. And they began a tradition of raiding into Mexico and killing and stealing young girls from the tribes there. Are you beginning to understand that all of this happened long after the first "aboriginals" immigrated to the Americas. JustMe: If you can explain why "Home of the Redskins" is so offensive that it cannot even be said THEN explain why CRT can be taught.
You can say whatever you want. JustMe: What I don't want is for it to be legislated or recognized by the federal government whose number 1 job is to treat us equally. Indian tribes have an inherent right to self government, one which is recognized under the U.S. Constitution and federal law. JustMe: Convert all tribal lands to private and allow the Indians to live a normal life. Nothing racist about that! "Who's legitimizing violence?"
You are, by putting a terrorist fire bomber in one or both of these categories: "Turns out that good people sometimes do bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things." indyjonesouthere: It is a better description to refer to them as the casino tribes of America rather than the Nat. Congress of Indian tribes.
Most tribes do not run casinos. indyjonesouthere: Members of the tribes are like any other group with some supporting the names and some against the names. Sure, but it's reasonably a decision of each tribal government whether to authorize their symbols for use by others. JustMe: The Apache were descended from immigrants who came to America long after the first aboriginals did and they "displaced" (damn scare quotes, hope it doesn't trigger you) aboriginals in Alaska. Modern genetic evidence indicates that there was an initial wave from Beringia into the Americas, the First Nations. A second wave populated the northern-most regions, the Paleo-Inuit. These two populations mixed to form the Dene which then spread south. Consequently, the Dene, including the Apache, are descendants of the people of the First Nations. See Flegontov et al., Paleo-Eskimo genetic ancestry and the peopling of Chukotka and North America, Nature 2019. SK: You are, by putting a terrorist fire bomber in one or both of these categories
But the statement is true. Saying Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence and saying Thomas Jefferson owned slaves doesn't justify or excuse one with the other. That's the human condition, the good and bad all mixed up together. "These two populations mixed to form the Dene which then spread south. "
Yes, that is exactly what I said. Those who would one day become Apache were from a later immigration (which means they were NOT first nations) and they committed genocide (which you chose to call "mixed" [hope the scare quotes don't make you cry} ) and enslaved them taking their young girls as sex slaves; hence, "mixed". And "spread South" is a cute term for invaded killing all those along the way. JustMe: Those who would one day become Apache were from a later immigration (which means they were NOT first nations)
The genetic evidence indicates that the Dene were descendants of the First Nations, not a later immigration from Asia that supplanted the previous inhabitants. (This is contrary to older theories, which are not supported by the genetic evidence.) Look at the list of tribal investors on their website. Those are casino tribes.
The tribe does not "own" those symbols. They would love to be the gateway attendants to lap up "licensing" fees but they lost and those symbols are public usage. NY may ban symbol their use in public schools but the fun part is that they are in a constant war with the tribes over untaxed cigarettes and trying to get their fingers on controlling those tribes and the lost taxes. indyjonesouthere: The tribe does not "own" those symbols.
Sure, go ahead and open a restaurant called "Home of the Redskins." No one can stop you. But people have a right to object. "But the statement is true." Huh?
So (most likely) is the statement "Most people named Urooj Rahman are dark haired females." But neither statement has anything to do with her actions or the relatively light sentence she was given for an act of terrorism. Prosecutors were asking for 18-24 mos., which would still have been on the light side. What a weird argument, even for you. Your obsession with destroying your credibility seems to be pathological. Quotations from noted humanitarian Urooj Rahman: “I hope they burn everything down,” Rahman told Mattis in a message hours before protests formed. “Need to burn all the police stations down… probably all the courts too.” “Throwing bottles and tear gas … lit some fires but were put out … fireworks goin and Molotovs rollin.” "And the only way they hear, the only way they hear us is through violence..." There's an old saw--when people tell you who they are, you should listen. And generous to a fault is Ms. Rahman; witnesses saw her and Mattis attempting to give Molotov cocktails to strangers in what can only be seen as an attempt to spread the gift of more violence, destruction, and possibly death. Bringing Jefferson into it is one of your deflections. Unless you're just trying to be funny. SK: But neither statement has anything to do with her actions or the relatively light sentence she was given for an act of terrorism.
We addressed that. You might try responding to our actual position. Her sentence was reduced largely due to the so-called "trial penalty." She pleaded guilty and expressed remorse. Another factor was that no one was in the police car she firebombed. SK: Bringing Jefferson into it is one of your deflections. To be fair, while Jefferson held people in bondage, and their children, too, and their children's children; he did write the Declaration of Independence. There are people that object to God. There is no shortage of objectors in any area of our "progressive" political culture.
"Convert all tribal lands to private and allow the Indians to live a normal life. Nothing racist about that!"
You have no idea how Indians are controlled for the benefit of a few leaders. The tactic is to sell them this half baked/half assed idea that they are perpetuating their traditions and beliefs but this forces them to live in "relative" poverty and drugs and alcohol. But the tribal leaders do pretty damned good on this system. But imagine that some reservation with 1000 active tribal members and 1,000,000 acres of land who instead choose to Deed half the land to the members and put the rest into a corporation style entity that they could all use and benefit from. Imagine the freedom to do what they want instead of bow down to the tribal leaders views. This would be so much better than the semi-slavery they now suffer. Now imagine that the Supremes decide that all Indians are not to be treated differently from the rest of the citizens. Imagine them living like free people determining their own destiny. Wouldn't that be great? JustMe: You have no idea how Indians are controlled for the benefit of a few leaders.
Sure. It's not like Native Americans should be allowed to choose their own leaders. JustMe: But imagine that . . . Here's an idea. Take their children and put them into schools so they can grow up to live — what did you call it? — "a normal life". Then they'll be "free people". indyjonesouthere: There are people that object to God.
Sure, because Native Americans objecting to a school sports program using "Home of the Redskins" is the same as objecting to God. |
