We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The media framed Derek Chauvin in the drug death of George Floyd too. It seems odd to me that they keep doing this. Surely they could get as much milage out of these stories by reporting them honestly but yet they insist on rushing to judgement and then doubling down on their mistakes. We have statues of George Floyd and Trayvon Martin, which in itself is laughable. Will we now get statues of these three men that Kyle shot? Mybe a plaque under each of the statues listing all the crimes they have committed in the past. Perhaps a list of the prosecutors who allowed them to get away with their crimes and that is why they were free to break the law again. Trayvon Martin had committed crimes and the police made a choice to let him go uncharged rather than appear to be charging him with crimes because he was black. So now we get a statue of "little" Travon but no truth to go with it.
"It seems odd to me that they keep doing this..." That's because you are seeing such events nominally as societal features and potential news stories, rather than as opportunities to be exploited. Never let a crisis go to waste The right events can be easily spun up into a crisis, and crises become highly effective when leveraged into organized chaos.
So now, Gaige Grosskreutz - the model citizen that got shot in the bicep by Rittenhouse - is on CNN spouting off that he had his hands raised when he was shot; this, after testifying under oath a few days ago that in fact he had lowered his hands and brought his handgun around to aim at Kyle Rittenhouse's head before Rittenhouse shot him.
So it's the Adam Schiff 'I've seen the collusion evidence' type of lie: Say one thing under oath, then get out in front of the cameras and say something completely different, in order to intentionally spin the lie up. With interviewers like Anderson Cooper nodding sagely and with no journalistic challenge or probing - because you know - a card-carrying leftist never lets a crisis go to waste
Why hasn't Gaige G. been charged with assault with a deadly weapon?

The coverage at Legal Insurrection has been good. The prosecution preserved one final chance for a conviction Friday.

You may not hold the media culpable for causing the riots, but I absolutely do. Many of the rioters were out for publicity and fame, and they only backed off that when some of them started being identified and charged (in all too few cases at that). The media still operates under the rule that if it bleeds, it leads, and they ate up the riots with a spoon. They're trying to railroad Kyle Rittenhouse now because he shot a hole in their narrative.
