We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This stinks to high heaven. Pulling up someone with a story that basically consists of:
"I don't remember where it was, when it was, or who was there, but I want it investigated and we shouldn't vote until it's proven he didn't do something!"
It's not surprising she's backing away from testifying. I think whoever talked her into this persuaded her she was 'taking one for the team' and that Kavanaugh would immediately back out, making her a hero. But he didn't, and she knows the story doesn't hold water, especially when she's so vague on details.
And now the howling crowds are saying it's the equivalent of rape. An unsubstantiated accusation, where the accused has NO record of doing anything like this - is the equivalent of rape.
It's a blocking tactic, nothing else - and they don't have anything more than this, so they'll go all-out on it...
Our female U.S. Senator yesterday put something on Facebook telling men they should be ashamed of themselves and they needed to come out and support the Fake Accuser.
She got immediate backlash in the comments by hordes of men, essentially on the grounds of what man has not been falsely accused by women of doing something they did not do, or who doesn't know a man who has gone through that?
It totally backfired. In about half an hour, the posting was pulled either by the Senator or by Facebook.
And I suspect every man in this state is now going to vote for her unknown opponent in the upcoming election.
The one rule to remember is that EVERYTHING the left accuses the right of doing - they are doing that in spades. Remember in the '90s how the Clintons bemoaned the "politics of personal destruction?" Here we are and it's the left who are destroying a person for their own political gain.
With all the left's beating about believing or giving the benefit of the doubt to the accuser (Hillary being one of the most notable), don't expect that to translate to the Keith Ellison's or Sherrod Brown's accusers; just like it didn't apply to Juanit Broaddrick, Kathleen Willey, or any of the other women who accused Clinton of sexual improprieties. After all, Hillary was part of the "Bimbo Eruption Squad" and a prominent trasher of Monica Lewinsky.
That Senator was Crazy Mazie Hirono of Hawaii. She's part of the "old boy" Democrat network in Hawaii. Trust me, if you asked her, she couldn't list a single legislative accomplishment of her years in public service.
Sen. Grassley is handling this tumult quite well in my opinion.
He issued an ultimatum to Blasey's lawyers to submit in writing her allegations by 10 am Friday if she wants to testify on Monday.
He also stated there would be no FBI investigation because that falls outside the committee's purview to advise and consent on the nominee.
Prediction: two additional phony accusers will surface in the next 48 hours. I'd bet real money on it. Any takers?
Yes, it's a huge setup. Had Feinstein released this when she originally got it back in JULY, it would have been easily shot down back then and Kavanaugh would have sailed through instead of getting tangled up at the 11th hour.
As it stands, ithis whole thing was designed to give Team D some momentum going into the midterms and allow them to paint Team R as misogynist. It's also timed to delay empaneling Judge K in time for the next session of the court, starting October 1. Just spitballing here, but I don't think it's too far fetched.
Of course, Team D's stretch goal / wet dream is to delay it until after the midterms, win back the House and Senate, vote against confirmation, and impeach POTUS.
Correct. They'll just keep doing it until they've a majority and then block, block, block.
And in 2020 they'll have both houses and the presidency and likely a large enough majority to force through constitutional changes, as they've been wanting to for decades.
That's the end game, destruction of your constitutional freedoms and the democratic principles on which the Republic is built, leaving them in a permanent position of power.
But they can't have a conservative majority supreme court for that, they'd strike down their work in a heartbeat, so Kavanaugh has to be stopped and replaced with a candidate of their choosing, a far left judge who can be easily controlled and do what he's supposed to.
I think Kavanaugh and Trump both showed incredible weakness here.
They know this is a farce and solely aimed at character destruction.
They should have acted on that and sued for defamation of character the moment these "accusations" were aired by Feinstein.
By not doing so they're basically admitting there's something worth spending time investigating and debating, which plays right into the far left's playbook.
I disagree, I think they've played it perfectly. I'm sure the democrats expected Trump to come out and try to bluster through it. Instead, he made the slow play, and while gently letting it be known how he really felt, played along with the sham by showing some concern. He never got off message except to infer he may delay the vote for a couple days, but let it be known there would be a vote. I thought they both took the very smartest route not to piss any marginal women voters off.
