We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Wondering why Justice and the FBI are so opposed to the Memo. I am open to the idea that there is a good reason, but I dislike the secrecy.
Things are going on which lowly citizens are not supposed to know about. We just vote and pay taxes...and let our moral and intellectual superiors handle the important things while we just try to figure out how to handle our own lives.

The Washington Post must be having whiplash. They don't know which way to cheat on this one.
Not going to pay Bezos to get behind the paywall.
I assume that Wray, who came late to this game and who does not have personal knowledge of the facts, is a bit horrified and wants time to verify the facts himself. As to DOJ, most of that office is still from the Obama era, Holder having packed it based on a political litmus test. I would be surprised if Jeff Sessions is the one speaking on this on behalf of the DOJ.
If all things were equal, I would be inclined to trust the DOJ and FBI on this one. But things are not equal. What the DOJ and FBI did with the Hillary investigation violated virtually every one of their own protocols. It wasn't an investigation; it was a cover up. And even then, it took Comey to rewrite one law and wholly ignore several others to find Hillary had not sufficiently violated our laws so as to justify a prosecution. It was obscene.
Then, we were treated to the political assassination of Michael Flynn over a Logan Act violation. Knowing what we know now, Trump should have fired McCabe and everyone other decision maker involved on the spot.
I have lost faith in the FBI and DOJ. If asked today to cooperate with them on a matter, I would refuse to do so. It is going to take a lot to rebuild trust. Step one is to get all the facts about the Hillary email scandal investigation and all the facts about the Trump Russia scandal out to the public.
Back in the bad old days of the 60's, the FBI was politicized.
George Carlin used to joke that he just knew he was being wiretapped by the FBI, so he used to answer every phone call with "F--k Hoover. Hello." Comey, Holder, and Lynch have taken us right back to those bad old days.
Add to that - and just speculating here - perhaps this has been the standard operating procedure at the FBI and the DOJ for so long that any and all convictions, favorable court rulings, and lack of prosecutions of favored politicians would all be tainted and therefore subject to legal review and appeal.
#ReleaseTheMemo and let the chips fall where they may.
My guess is, the whole point is to encourage people to pay attention, to read the memo, to find out what is so controversial, to get people talking. Meanwhile, those in FBI/DOJ who may be doing bad things, think there are some in FBI/DOJ still trying to cover for them and willing to continue making this political.
Wray is not bad. Rosenstein is not bad. Mueller is not bad. Sessions is not bad. That is all you need to know and believe. Everything's playing out just as it should.
If Trump wanted to end this speculation, he could have released the memo already. Instead, he is holding on to it and waiting to release for maximum effect & damage.
I too, am open to the idea the memo should not be released. Can think of only two justifications not to:
1. Information in the memo, made public, jeopardizes national security and the safety of the American public;
2. Information in the memo exposes FBI or DOJ individuals who have done their job and committed no crimes, to threat of violence or death.
Mueller is dirty. Rosenstein is dirty. McCabe. They all are. And Wray, like all "good" cops everywhere, never rat out the dirty ones. Protect the organization: Job One.
Let's see. Uranium One. Russians smuggling into the USA suitcases full of money to bribe whoever they needed to, to get control of USA uranium assets. That money, being fungible, found its way into the campaign coffers of a sitting US Secretary of State. Who agreed to allow the sale of 20% of the assets of Uranium One to the Russians. And with the agreement that no actual exports of uranium would actually occur without the express written permission of the US Government.
And no prosecutions over all this skullduggery occurred until after the money had been transferred and the deal was done, and the SoS was back to being a private citizen. And no public prosections, or sotto voce on the down low prosecutions.
And to add insult to injury, uranium was actually smuggled from USA to Canada to Russia without USG consent. What was that? A side agreement? Nudge nudge, wink wink.
And who was in charge of the FBI, the agency responsible for tracking adversarial foreign agents on US soil? Mueller. And who was in charge of the prosecutions? Rosenstein. And who was in charge of Counter-Intelligence? McCabe's cronies.
The FBI is dirty. The DOJ is dirty. And you have dirty cops protecting each other. And all the good cops are protecting the dirty cops. There are no good cops left. Burn the FBI down. Maybe the DOJ with it. Let no stone stand upon another. Maybe in a couple of years we can start afresh, with a whole new crew, with no one who has the taint and stench of the old FBI. We first have to wait until all the rats hiding in the shadows, hoping to climb back in and infest the new organization, chew themselves to death in their hunger and frustration. We the People can do without DOJ and FBI for quite some time. Of what value are rats to us?
It has become clear that a lot of the administrative government has become politicized and view their job as continuing the big government socialist agenda. State, EPA, DOJ and FBI are politicized beyond redemption. Does anyone think westerners view the BLM, F&W, or Forest service as helpful? The administrative state, which was started by Wilson and magnified by FDR and Johnson, has got to go...it is corrupted. There is likely little threat to national security but a lot of threat to the big government state in releasing the memo. RELEASE THE MEMO NOW.
My take is also that Wray wants to handle this in house. Emptying McCabe's desk was an attempt to signal this.
And I really wish people would quit trying to blow sunshine up our collective a$$es on this. If the current crew at both FBI and DOJ are not dirty then they are covering for the ones who are. Mueller is not going to walk up to the podium one day and announce he's targeting Hillary. He needs to be fired and hopefully will be after the memo comes out.
The DOJ and FBI have both walked back those objections after reviewing the memo.
"FBI has “grave concerns” about memo describing FBI malfeasance."
Can you believe it?
I think it puts Democrats Democrat agendas and their partners in crime at risk. Simple as that. Honest Democrats (LOL) could see this as harming legitimate left wing agendas that they are vested in. But I say lets release everything and let the chips fall where they may.
