We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
This is a fractured, gasping shout of fury when read in Hebrew.
The excerpt here is the second "verse" of a Psalm divided by parallel phrases that start with "only" - translated here as "alone".
The Hebrew word is "ach" - pronounced just like in German, and with similar use as a dismissive exclamation. It leads verses 1-2 and 5-6 - punctuating a Psalm of choppy, sharp phrases which the translation smooths out.
All the other verses except the last one echo these refrains by starting with an open "ah" sound.
The verses in between are pretty sharp criticisms of worldly corruption - punctuated by "only G-d..../ G-d alone...".
