We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It is the modern way. You can get a small fortune in welfare benefits as a single mom. A good way to reverse this trend would be to put a work requirement into all welfare programs. Another good idea would be to place an upper limit on what a welfare recipient can get from all federal, state and local programs. Also we could tax all benefits, this would have the additional result of giving welfare recipients some skin in the game when they vote.
And, we could all go Super-Trump and start referring to all these hapless single mothers as Bastard Factories. On Facebook, Twitter, and whatever other electronic teat the nation is sucking on at the moment.
No, man, we can't do that. It's there plain as day in one of the Constitution's sacred Penumbras and Emanations: there is a government secured positive absolute right for everyone to never be shamed by anyone else. We all have the right to not feel shame for what we did.
Well, not everyone, the right does not and never did apply to dirty white European-descended men. DWEM's are to be shamed mercilessly for everything their ancestors did, everything they did, everything they're doing, and everything they're ever gonna do.
And the defiant DWEMs say: "Sod off, swampy. When the times comes, don't you all come round with your pathetic groveling apologies, asking us to once again save your sorry *'s. It's already too late for apologies."
We have created it by enabling it since 1964. Various government benefits actually aren't that much, but they are enough to get by. Because it is possible, young men and women choose not to get married, and they live in subcultures which regard this as unremarkable.
They are, in general, those whose ability to plan ahead and delay gratification are the weakest, so they don't realise how much of a dead end they have signed on for. Dan Quayle was right, remember: Rich women can get away with this, and make it look fairly easy. It's a disaster for the poor to try it. Many recover and climb out, through great effort and much delay. Not all.

Biology and evolution ... blah blah blah.
Nevertheless, humans are not captives to biology. We have agency. it is my personal principle that every child has a right to a mother and a father, and we as adults ought to do our duty to those children that we are gifted from God. I believe I have done my duty.
Things that can't go on forever, won't. And some bad things once started keep growing and cannot be stopped. Prepare for the interregnum, it won't be pleasant.
Some how it needs to be shown to young women that trying to raise a child on your own isn't easy and is usually a road to poverty. Don't reward this behavior by giving free money and all the other things that make single motherhood seem doable. Hollywood behavior started the "had a child with" garbage making it appear acceptable but in general they had the money to pay a nanny so they weren't stuck as the only caregiver. Welfare should come with having to attempt to work but do gooders will cry it isn't fair. The kids suffer from not having a father in the home but so many modern women think they don't need a man's help. A real problem for society.
There is considerable evidence that growing up in a single parent household causes more lifelong social and legal problems for children. For this reason alone we should not encourage this. Welfare encourages it. IMHO welfare is the problem and the only way to fix it it to change it so dramatically that it no longer makes it a profitable or desirable choice. Limit the maximum total benefit from all sources of welfare to the equivalent of the minimum wage. Require 40 hours of work a week to get that aid. Place a lifetime limit on that aid of a year or two. End the incentive to "choose" to be on welfare.
