We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Even if this were true, we cannot fix it. Just a huge impossible 'problem' that has no viable solution. We can't rein in 3rd world countries like India or even China...so anything we attempt will have zero to no effect. Better to just do what you feel is best to keep the environment clean and stay calm.
I am alone in my position on global warming and nobody from either side wants to talk with me. I think global warming is real but I am not sure how much of it is really human-caused (the IPCC's guess is 60%).
It doesn't matter anyways what is causing global warming, however, because as others have noted we cannot as a species coordinate our activities in a meaningful way. So the fossil fuel burning will continue. Therefore the focus should be on mitigation of global warming's effects, not on 'ending' it (please). And nobody wants to talk about mitigation or amelioration as a policy initiative.
Sigh. I guess there aren't conferences in Bali to be attended if this is what you think is the best approach....
