We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I'm now 67 and have no plans to retire at this point. Part is economic, I can manage, but I'd have to cut back, and I don't want to.
But more than that, working, having people depend on my perfomance keeps me focused. A co worker who was about a year older than me retired at 65, but now he's back. He said the turning point was when he had to go to the post office, but it wasn't open yet so he waited... along with a group of old men who were also just waiting for the post office to open. That's when he realized how bored he had become.
black tie optional? It is Dumb to wear a coat in the summer. Its even dumber to wear a tie...Any time
Just doesn't seem offense to me. Unlike the black power/black supremacy salute which does offend me. Waving the American flag doesn't seem offensive either unlike the pan-African flag you will see on cars and clothing.
High school football fans told to stop chanting "USA, USA"
Such as when white students used it to taunt Hispanic students from an opposing school team.
When Chanting "USA!" At A Sporting Event Is A Racist Cheer
Presumably they are American citizens, so what could be wrong with it?
Because it was chanted AT them. It was clearly meant as a taunt.
What about the Mexicans who raise the Mexican flag on American school grounds or protest immigration policy by carrying Mexican flags?
This is the US. If you are a US citizen, then somebody shouting "USA" to you shouldn't bother you. You should join in.
Re: The Greediest People in America Are Liberal Democrats
Quite so, but the author didn't even touch on the evidence that the conservatives are more charitable than lefties. They give more to charity and are even more likely to give blood than those on the left.
From each according to his gullibility to each according to his greed.
mudbug: What about the Mexicans who raise the Mexican flag on American school grounds or protest immigration policy by carrying Mexican flags?
Please be specific.

The Civil Rights marchers of the 1960s carried the American flag. The KKK in the 1920s carried the American flag. Context does matter.
In this case, narrative is pertinent. The KKK and the Civil Rights marchers had very different narratives related to the American flag. Same flag, different messages. So, yes. The context does matter.
Here are some links:
I don't understand your example with Civil Rights marchers, the KKK, and the American flag. They are both allowed to carry it (or should be). I am an American. If someone shouts "USA" to me, it doesn't bother me at all. I happen to be white. If someone calls me a white person or talks about white people or even shouts about white people, it makes no difference to me. If I were a German and someone shouted "USA" to me, I might consider it an affront as though they were saying Americans are superior to me or Germans, but I doubt it. If I were in Germany and they shouted "Deutschland" to me, why should I care?
mudbug: Here are some links
The first one, "snopes" says the student was punished for breaking the rules. The second, "latino", is the same as the first. The third, "chron", the principal was ordered to remove the flag. The remainder were not at a school.

And if you were a black American in 1920, and saw the KKK waving the American flag coming towards their house one night, it meant something quite different than it did when civil rights marchers in the 1960s waved the flag.

Overgeneralizations, especially about such a disparate group as "white people", are generally pernicious. However, in the U.S., whites are the majority and control most of the organs of power, so it matters far less than it would to an ordinary black trying to get along in life when people make overgeneralizations about blacks.
mudbug: If I were in Germany and they shouted "Deutschland" to me, why should I care?
If you were a German in 1940 who happened to be Jewish, then it might make a great deal of difference. Context does matter.
I see you are one of Hillarys les deplorables. Right on! Right on! Fight the power!

Zach, it's NOT for you.
I think Zach is on to something by golly. Why would hispanics wave those racist Mexican flags or speak Spanish except to taunt white and black kids. Right? Am I right? Can I get an amen? After all if it's racist INSIDE the good old US of A to wave the American flag what in the hell are they waving Mexican flags for??? And for that matter wouldn't it be racist of them to even wave the Mexican flag in Mexico (clearly intended to taunt the gringos who come down to Mexico to 'exploit' their drinking water that makes you sick and to dodge bullets from the drug cartels. Let's send Zach there to clean up that racist country.
Then they need to grow up or leave. This is America, not Mexico.
The KKK were the same as members of the Democrat Party in good standing. Now that Democrat leaders like Robert Byrd are dead we tend to forget that Democrat politicians also tended to be the local Kleagle and Grand Cyclops, and that KKK meetings were typically held at the Democrat Party headquarters. Such is the politically correct re-writing of history.
The retirement age has to go up because of economics. You need enough workers to supply goods and services to the number of retirees, based on the promise of the same deal for those workers.
If lifetimes lengthen, the retirement age has to go up to rebalance the numbers or workers and retirees.
No financing trick can get around that, whether it's SS or stocks.
Hopefully the American students will sue the school district for violation of their civil rights.
