Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Regarding global warming this letter written by a few years ago by UConn physicist Howard Hayden lays out rather nicely why the assertion that the science is "settled" is an utter farce:
http://archive.mises.org/10939/physicist-howard-haydens-one-letter-disproof-of-global-warming-claims/ We gave 3 million illegals amnesty in 1986 and now we have 11-20 million illegals. So if we give them amnesty in 20 years we will have 50 million illegals here. None of this include the relatives of those given amnesty who also get to come here. How does this serve the citizens the true owners of this country? Is there some massive need in this country for non-Engish speaking poor people needing welfare and special quota's that I'm simply not aware of? With so many Americans on welfare and unemployment how is it a good thing to bring in massive numbers of people who take American jobs then choose to reject our culture and language and become a drag on our public institutions? We may think Obamacare, the Democrats tax and spend mentality and other crises around the world are our biggest worries but the amnesty will prove to be the biggest and one that will be impossible to reverse or fix.
the parade looks like a tea pot tempest, all sides get to walk away claiming victory for now. Lets wait for Cinco de Mayo.
Also sounds like Zuckerburg trying to keep his cash cow of spying on others afloat or is it a professional's disdain of amateurs? Putin is easy to understand, whatever advances Russia, advances him "A bunch of people try to understand what Putin is all about"
John Kerry testified before congress in 1971 about the Vietnam War. http://www.wintersoldier.com/index.php?topic=Testimony In that testimony is this statement about U.S. troops: "They told the stories at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country." This was soviet disinformation passed along to American communist who fed it to John Kerry and many others on the left who eagerly used it like the usefull idiots they were/are. Today John Kerry has to deal with a KGB agent Russian president who knows what a fool Kerry, the administration and most in congress are. Can you imagine what they must think of the U.S. leaders who are so easily lead themselves? Many of our Democrat congressmen and women are members of the communist party and many more willingly affiliate themselves with them. How can Putin take someone like Kerry, Mrs Clinton or Obama serious knowing how he has mislead and used them in the past? "The EU’s Stunning Hypocrisy on Crimea:"
It can be amusing when people point out the hypocrisy of some person or group. Even more so when it is done to rationalize the egregious behaviour of another. But, it is always a lazy, misplaced technique used by nincompoops who have nothing substantive to add to the discussion. Paul Joseph Watson is that nincompoop today. He is lazy because hypocracy is like lying, everyone is guilty of it. It is misplaced because hypocracy by one, like lying, does not justify it for another. Tit for tat justification is for children. Stupid children. Further, the nincompoop didn't even make the effort to choose equally egregious hypocritical behaviour. It's not even close. Putin invaded another country with his military forces and compelled a vote. The examples of EU election tinkering were minor rule changes affecting comparably few. Rule changes within an orgaization all of the members voluntarily joined. Rule changes within a rule making regime all of the member nations agreed to live by. Voluntarily. The vote in Crimea was compelled and sanctioned by a puppet parliament at the point of a gun using ballots with 2 choices. Join Russia or join Russia. And the nincompoop crys foul against the EU? It's pathetic. Paul Joseph Watson is a nincompoop and unless he is truly retarded, he is also very likely a stooge for Putin. Well, I was wrong about one thing. On this occasion, it is not amusing at all. "cows more serious threat to climate change"..
really? I thought rotting food in landfills were? That's according to the FDA reports (unless of course, it's the rotting food from the first lunchlady's federal school food program, that can't be right, can it? ) "Gays Ruin St. Patrick’s Day - Evidently, it is not enough to have a Gay Pride parade every June. Now every parade must be a Gay Pride parade."
Every parade must be a gay pride parade. Ya know, that would be one way to go. Who better to decorate the floats and arrange the flowers, costumes and balloons? The lesbians would insist on joining so it wouldn't be a complete waste of time and we could all marvel at the pretty decorations. Put em in charge and make it a law. The worst thing that happens is what? Nobody hardly shows up? Maybe that would be a good thing. There's nothing quite as creepy as people who insist on joining your activities uninvited and on being your friend unasked. Like that guy who pushes pictures of his family in your face on those long plane rides. What better way to demonstrate that reality than giving the gays control of all the parades? Let them duke it out with the lesbians for biggest float. Maybe the wiccans will join the brawl and we can watch on TV. I see it as a golden opportunity on several levels. How many fire trucks do we need to watch before it get's boring anyway? Give em control of the parades. So, Guinness and Sam Adams threaten, withdraw funding and coerce parade organizers, again. On behalf of the Gays. Year after year. Why? Because they know from the past sooner or later they win.
First the media came over to them, then the politicians, the Mayor, and the businesses that donate to them. Are we sure that they are only 3% of the population because somedays they seem like they are legion. Well, that's two brands of beer off my shopping list. So the NYT thinks the government needs to better know how private individuals support science. Why. The NYT can find out and report it, if it's so important. I guess the government could also report the news and shutter the NYT. If I give $3, $300, or $3M or $3T (which I don't have) to anyone, who should care, but the donor and recipient. I might want to support studies of how best to keep endangered microbes (that only grow in the back of my fridge) from going extinct...that's my business, and not government's. To the NYT's discredit, not one of the privately supported science projects they mentioned seemed inane to this observer, unlike many recently reported government funded science projects.
'"Cowboys-and-Indians' cheerleaders photo sparks Regina furor" Hmmm...the protests seemed to be exclusively directed at the Indian costumes. Why no objection to objectifying the Cowboys? Seems sexist/racist to me
