We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Rodeo clowns asked to take ‘sensitivity training’
What America needs are more sensitive clowns. As if government did not provide enough of them.

So the out of control PC language police have now taken down a clown. Remind me again who exactly are the real clowns in this absurd ritual?
We are not concerned with what geophysicists and engineers think. The only important opinions are held by climate scientists, i.e., people with legitimate views on climate, whose research is funded by legitimate sources and reviewed by legitimate peers.
Beside, science is not a popularity contest. At least, not this year. It was last year.
Really, Hillary can save the world? She couldn't save four men under her direct authority in a small coastal country whose chaotic situation was due to her own policies in preceding years.
I'd be afraid, I'd be part of the world she decided:
but then again, ‘What Difference, At This Point, Does It Make’ ?
Looking at her statement, we should note, she couldn't even save the grammar. Can you really trust someone who can't save your grammar?
I don't believe the Missouri Democrats realize what they are doing. If they had any experience with real leadership, they'd know that over-reacting to someone making fun of a person in leadership is a sure sign of weakness and lack of confidence in that leader.
To keep going on and on about it as well as seeking petty reprisals just builds the case.
Where is the ACLU to defend this clown's 1st amendment rights that are under attack by all the other clowns in politics and the race pimping industry? Where is the DOJ to defend this obvious racial motivated attack on a mere rodeo clown? Where is the MSM citing concerns over this attack on the 1st amendment?
The liberal hysteria about the clown is not about what the clown did, but about how the crowd reacted. They can't crucify the crowd, so they're going after the clown.
Rodeo: The court of public opinion's jury at the rodeo said "FUNNY!" I accept their decision. I'm guessing most of the folks in mid-MO agree with them that O is not their favorite president, and even if he is, mockery is a First Amendment right. And yes, AoS, he took that day off for golfing.
Lib Priv: Yep, they BELIEVE they know what they're doing, and it is the Right Thing For All Of Us!
Bullying: See comment above.
Hillary!, being a woman, is sufficient for the Left (some, most, Magic 8-Ball sayeth "Answer Cloudy; Ask Again Later.")
Parker: "Let's begin with a working (and provable) premise: Women, if allowed to be fully equal to men, will bring peace to the planet. This is not far-fetched." And evidence provided she none. None (NO, not any, zip, zilch, nada) whatever. An assertion is not proof. This is why she writes at the WaPo.
Sensitivity training doesn't begin to exhaust the remedies associated with this reprehensible clown behavior. Others have suggested that this clown be drawn and quartered and ritually stoned (a number making these punishment suggestions may have been stoned themselves). In any case, disembowelment and keelhauling certainly deserve serious consideration from these administrative bodies if a proper punishment is expected. Finally, transanal evisceration must be considered as well.
From all indications, authorities of every stripe are on it and an equitable solution will be found which relects the judgment and values of those involved.
Tried DD on a trip to the east. Don't get it. Doughy doughnuts and bad coffee. You poor people! lol
We should note, that this wasn't just any crowd. This wasn't a Tonight Show or Late Show audience, or even Daily show audience. This was a rodeo audience. The mere attendance at such an event is racist to the Progs. To enjoy a clown wearing the mask of a clown is unconscionable to the NY Liberal wannabes in Missouri.
Wait, I got it.
The Progs are upset at the image of President Obama coming to the aid of a common American who is trying to escape from the huge mass of bull bearing down upon them. It is terribly demeaning for Obama to be seen placing himself between the mass of bull and a fallen American or using his skill and agility to distract that bull into going after him rather than goring a man when he's down.
Rodeo clown sensitivity training -
"Feel the bull, be the bull"
"This is bull..."
"The bull has feelings."
"Lady, the bull has horns"
"Think about what the bull wants"
"I know the bull wants to stick those horns into me.
"And I'm sensitive to that"
Rush really nailed the rodeo clown farce in his commentary yesterday.
"I mean, this is over the top. And the way people are caving on this in Missouri, instead of standing up and pointing out this for what it is. This wasn't a sacrilege; it's a joke, for crying out loud. And presidents are laughed at, and they're poked fun of. Ask George W. Bush. Ask Ronald Reagan. Ask George H. W. Bush. Ask Clinton, for crying out loud.
This burns me. This is outrageous. This is no different than what happened in all those countries that had the cartoons of the prophet and militant Muslims had a cow over it, went nuts. It's exactly what's happening here. What do we have, a president of the United States who is above all this? We have a president who's above criticism, above being mocked, above being laughed at? We have not just a president, we have an entire Democrat political party and the American left which thinks that they are so damn special that they cannot be mocked, they cannot be made fun of.
There's a great quote by C. S. Lewis. You know who C. S. Lewis was. See, if I even quote C. S. Lewis I'll get myself in a little bit of trouble here. I'd have to paraphrase. I don't have it right in front of me. C. S. Lewis said the devil can't stand being made fun of. The devil can't stand being mocked. He actually used the word "mocked."

Since when does the US not use metric? I'm an engineer and I've been using metric all my career. Electrical engineers use the meter-kilogram-second (MKS) system of measurement.
I always thought when we got rid of the 55 mph national speed limit all those signs should have been replaced with kilometer per hour signs. By now everyone would be used to dealing with kilometers.
If you are old enough you will remember that we did make highway signs in metric and took a number of steps towards converting the U.S. to totally metric. I believe it was one senator who put a "hold" on the process because his constituients weren't quite ready yet (Which really means that one of his donors crossed his palm with silver to stop it). The hold was supposed to be a year if I remember correctly but it never got revived it simply went away. We should (have) convert(ed). There is no good reason not to.
I've lived in the deep South all my 70 years. Just between the two of us DD has it all over CC. But I'd never let "them" know. Agree with you on the coffee though.
Clinton's Secretary of Commerce decreed the department was gong metric. Didn't go anywhere after they realized it would take millions of dollars to buy new file cabinets and paper trays to accommodate the larger metric paper. Sadly, they didn't even decree that all subsequent purchases would be metric capable. Happily, the market fixed that problem for them.
One simple solution would be to make the Kph numbers on the speedometer the same size a the Mph. I had a hack of a time remembering to look at the smaller inner circle when I was driving in Canada.
No reason except that we don't like metric and have to fool around translating it to use it.
Everyone who had to convert to metric had to go through the transition of thinking in the old system while translating to the new one for awhile. It isn't that difficult and once we fully embraced it it would quickly become a "done deal". Metric makes the math simpler and it makes sense in an "organic" kind of way (I can't believe I just said that. Makes me sound like a new age hippy). I for one want to see us convert and get it past us and move on.
This was a rodeo audience. Yeah, a snapshot of the small percentage of Americans still pulling their own weight.
I recall the Metric Conversion Act in the '70s, during the Ford or Carter years I think. The feds spent a lot of money on it, but it flopped. I can remember seeing a few MPH/KPH highway signs being put up wherever I was living at the time.
