We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I see that the liberal elite is still trying to divide everything into neat little diversity boxes, to divide us all into select groups which can be counted on to react one way. This is basically childish, and disrespectful of one's fellow human beings.
Norman Podhoretz sparked an excellent debate on this about 30 months ago. Links to good uh, Commentary here:
Assistant VIllage Idiot
I was amazed to watch this last night and see how they twisted his words to create a false image of who he is and what he does.
Eric, more or less, clearly let them know he was trying to set the record straight about what his stances and views are - and his family also backed him up, despite clearly differing on certain issues.
Yet this was all a sideshow, as the journalists tried as hard as they could to make it a personal war. They made much of how he tried to show his 'human side' at home - but they would show that side of any Democrat because it's 'normal' for a Democrat. Republicans cannot be loving, caring people. They are heartless to the MSM.
Rather than 'professional journalism', I was reminded more of high school clique behavior.
I stopped watching 60 Minutes of Bias about 60 years ago (!) and so I did not see the interview live, nor do I care to view a clip of it since it will only confirm what I already know about CBS, but I will register my disappointment that a nice Jewish girl like Lesley Stahl would be so mean to a nice Jewish boy like Eric Cantor.
