We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
That's now the Torrey Hills subdivisions. No forest fire danger. However, now largely populated with transferres from East Coast brought in by local tech/pharma companies. Regionally, known for lousy attitudes.
Fie! What pestilent wind is this? I am undone by meteorological treachery. That the rank curse imparted doth return hither on currents unanticipated? I strike at thee with this poisoned lash. Thy mother is a hamster and thy father reeks of elderberries!
On the other hand, the nights around here got into the 30s in some parts of the county. Is my neighborhood (Downtown San Diego) the prediction is a low of 57. I expect Rancho Bernardo will see even lower temperatures.
In short, it's not all that warm and cozy in this here parts. :)
I grew up in San Diego, live just a little north of there now (Temecula). I remember one of the local weather guys when I was a kid (I think it was Bob Dale, complete with his bow tie) who would finish up his weather report with something like, "And now, here's the weather in Buffalo" at which point, the video would cut to whiteout blizzard pix.
The other funny one (not weather related, but maybe kinda), was Ted Leitner, who was the big name in local sports broadcasting (he still does the Aztec games). He's from Philly, but always hated pro hockey. So he would end every sports report with ,"And here's tonight's hockey highlight". And the camera would cut to two seconds of one hockey player bashing the face of some other player who he had in a headlock.
