We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
It's hardly a rant. But it is very, very welcome. One wishes that the camera had been on Brown's face throughout - he is notoriously short-tempered and given to fits of rage in which he insults underlings and destroys things (including the UK economy).
If the name was changed to Obama and the accent to a Southern drawl this would be perfect for the Obamination to hear from one of his esteemed colleagues. Unfortunately the ship reference would likely be lost on him, he probably knows little of England's history on the high seas. That was one excellent, and in a sense universal, instance of corrective criticism
This speech is a stunning demonstration of real oratory. Nothing is more impressive than righteous, rightful indignation. It slices and dices all wrong-headed, fuzzy thinking and puts the blame right where it should be. I wish we had, on the Republican side in our beleaguered country, at least one orator with this kind of skill.
Thank you Bird Dog, for finding and posting this masterpiece.
Great Britain may be in terrible shape financially and economically, but they obviously still have some serious schools. They produce political leaders who can construct and deliver a coherent argument.
Luther ... if you're talking about the video above of Hannan, drudge had it up early this afternoon in the headers. I haven't checked since I got back from my appointment, but it was there, from Youtube, with some additional Hannan speeches mentioned in the right hand sidebar.
Hello,I don't understand the situation in the U.S.A. but I hope that it is not as bad as in England.Just to reply to part of your comment;
Daniel Hannan has done nothing yet although I was really gald to hear his speech.Maybe this is because of media suppression,I don't know.But the U.K. is in an advanced state of Communist destruction and it has taken so long for Daniel Hannan to emerge.I hope that you never see a 'Daniel Hannan' in the U.S. as I don't want the U.S. to be destroyed like the U.K. has been destroyed.
The most watched video in Britain, by far - and yet nothing in the UK mainstream media! Everyone talking about it and silence from our supposed democratic press/TV. I've learned a lot from this. Politics - what a stitch up!!
I was speaking to my Mother on the phone one day and she spoke about Gordon Brown.The conversation got a bit heated and I started to raise my voice.
My pet Canary heard that we were talking about Gordon Brown so he jumped to the exit of his cage and started shouting at me because he hates Gordon Brown because Gordon Brown has put a tax on his favourite seed.
