We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Spent today in NYC, around New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, (now known as New York Hospital and Weill Medical College, thanks to the Citigroup genius Sandy Weill Or is it properly New York Presbyterian Hospital - now that Presbyterian and NYH merged?). It was cold as hell.
That's Sotheby's building in front with the flags, and New York Hospital beginning just to the right of it.
A couple more below the fold -
The East River, looking downtown towards the 59th St. Bridge, with Roosevelt Island on the left, Hospital for Special Surgery on the right:
I always get a kick out of the c. 1870-1900 buildings squeezed between modern buildings. It's a reminder of what the entire street scene was like in 1900 - and in 1950.
