We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Earth getting colder

With the global cooling becoming increasingly obvious, when will it be declared a crisis? Still too many deniers, I guess.

Climate change skeptics on Capitol Hill are quietly watching a growing accumulation of global cooling science and other findings that could signal that the science behind global warming may still be too shaky to warrant cap-and-trade legislation.

While the new Obama administration promises aggressive, forward-thinking environmental policies, Weather Channel co-founder Joseph D’Aleo and other scientists are organizing lobbying efforts to take aim at the cap-and-trade bill that Democrats plan to unveil in January.

Of course it's a hoax. If you have taken a course in thermodynamics you know what the global warming advocates are claiming is nonsense. Used to be only physicists realized what they were claiming is theoretically impossible, but now everybody is starting to realize this as actual physical measurements refute the global warming claims.

You notice thay have now changed global warming to climate change. They are going to do like King Canute and order the climate to stop changing.

Anyone trained in scientific method can see it as an obvious hoax. Man made "Global Warming" doesn't make it past the thesis stage. Nowhere near an accepted theory.

Ruddiman at UVA believes humans started warming the climate thousands of years ago, when we developed agriculture and domesticated animals. And a darn good thing, too, or we'd be in an Ice Age right now. His numbers are quite interesting.

This gentleman Ruddiman has the typical egocentric attitude that Everything Is Our Fault. The earth was warming and cooling for eons of years before humanity even hit town. This kind of egocentrism accounts for much of the faulty reasoning of the "climate change" folks, but I don't buy it. During the Medieval Warming Period, the earth got warmer, and, according to statistics, the population of the British Isles was less than one person per square mile. I suspect that farm raised animals were equally scarce. Not much methane or CO2, or any other civilization-produced thingie being produced there. But the earth got warmer for a while, and then it got cooler [the Little Ice Age] and Mankind and his evil proclivities had very little to do with it.

Historians are going to look back on these Chicken Little types and laugh their heads off.

The earth with its oceans, mountains, deserts, and ice caps has a heat capacity which is orders of magnitude greater than the air in our atmosphere. Meaning that it takes many times the amount of energy to heat or cool our land and waters as compared to heating or cooling air. Now, understand that CO2 makes up three hundreths of a percent of our air. So, we are to believe that changes to a naturally occuring substance, CO2, making up just a few hundreths of a percent of the air in our atmosphere is going to overwhelm the enormous temperature stabilizing effects of the earth...Not in a million years! It is the greatest hoax in modern history...Physics for dummies gone wild!!!!!!
