We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Interviews with Obama voters, via a piece at Gateway on the media's failures to inform voters about Obama. (By no means do I think all Obama voters are this poorly-informed, nor that Conservative voters are all well-informed.)
Still, I find this disturbing, but maybe it's the way it always is:
You could find some people who supported McCain would answer in similar fashion. However, I suspect the numbers would be lower for one reason.
Obama attracted huge numbers of uninformed students and minorities who voted for him due to his race. In an election that wasn't about race, race WAS the overriding factor in these people's decision to vote.
What the issues were, or where Obama stood on them was not as important as "how cool" it would be to have a black president, or how a black president would relate to an individual if they were black.
The classic moment of the campaign came from the woman who said Obama would alleviate her worries when it came time to pay her mortgage and fill her car with gas.
I truly HOPE that Obama can do a good job. Given how he was elected, the press has alot to answer for when they start ripping him to shreds. However, I suspect they won't....they will protect him. He's their baby, so they have to.
The people answering "Uh, I dunno, sounds like Palin" were parroting the media... the blatantly excessive media assault on anything resembling opposition to Obama or preservation of traditional values. I plan on showing equal and opposite respect to Obama and his progressive values in the coming years.
Welcome to the American Electorate! If you really want to be depressed then go to any college campus and ask the same questions, you won't like what you hear. Truth is most voting Americans have no idea how their government is run, who makes laws or who implements them including the teachers who teach American History (well maybe a few of those do). It is sad and it is the major reason socialism and communism can grow into a reality. Ignorance is the plague of our society and the MSM is the carrier.
It's kind of depressing that the illuminati couldn't intelligently convince people to vote for them, so they just used a smiling man with a good speaking voice. Who cares what he was talking about? Obviously not a lot who voted for him.
