Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

My son's band performed in the shadow of that edifice complex on a recent sunny afternoon. There was much discussion about the militaristic nature of that rather unnatural structure, which seems to have risen out of the ground from one of Dante's own layers of Hell, transformer-like, imposing itself on a free people with the intent of protecting dark secrets and extracting the truth through varied torture methods practiced deep within its dark and narrow labyrinth.

I, for one, would ever voluntarily step foot inside that building.

Another off-topic note which is too good to pass up ... Jules Crittenden has an essay on his column yesterday entitled "Hillary for War Czar." Well written, amusing, and has just enough crazy logic to it.

I think Hillary is ill-equipped to serve as Sec/State [her hi-y'alls as First Lady don't count as in-depth knowledge of foreign affairs] but she's a natural-born warrior and definitely has 'a pair' which I take leave to doubt Obama does.

About the Celts, BTW. The current thinking is that there is some genetic difference, but not because they were pushed westward by the Saxons and Danes as popularly supposed. Their residence in Wales, Ireland, and western Scotland goes far deeper, thousands of years earlier, having sailed up from Iberia in prehistoric times. Bryan Sykes Saxons, Vikings, and Celts is very good on that score.
